The Year in Review

Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007
The year-end statistics reflect a significant increase in traffic on the servers.  For the year 2006, the site recorded 67,062,191 successful requests for pages (not counting requests for images, scripts, style sheets or other files included within a web page).  That's a 65% increase over the previous year (43,601,792).  Although some of the volume can be attributed to added content from new Web sites or redesigned sites hosted on or the general trend towards the Web as a primary resource for university publications, much of the traffic is related to search engines or other automated systems.  For example, requests from Google increased from just under 1 million in 2005 to over 3.6 million in 2006.
