Swim Lessons

Santa Clara University is proud to provide private swimming lessons to a range of swimmers, with any and all levels of experience. We offer lessons for six weeks during the fall & spring academic quarters & then summer lessons in two week sessions.

We happily provide lessons to swimmers six months and up.  Please note our pool is only heated to 80 degrees year round- children under the age of 3 may not do well in our facility for lessons due to not being able to swim to stay warm. Lessons are planned to be swimmer-specific and address the concerns of each individual.

When Are Lessons?

Summer lessons are provided in four two-week sessions. Each session is $160 for a set of eight half-hour lessons, Monday through Thursday. Session dates are as follows:
  • Session 1: June 24-27, July 1-2 (Discounted lessons because of two missed days for Fourth of July)*

    • (2 spots) 11:40-12:10pm
    • (2 spots) 4:20-4:50pm
    • (1 spot) 5:00-5:30pm
    • (1 spot) 5:40-6:10pm
  • Session 2: July 8-11, 15-18
    • (2spots) 11:00-11:30am
    • (2 spots) 11:40-12:10pm
    • (2 spots) 4:20-4:50pm
    • (1 spot) 5:40-6:10pm
  • Session 3: July 22-25, July 29 – August 1
    • (2 spots) 11:00-11:30am
    • (2 spots) 11:40-12:10pm
    • (2 spots) 3:40-4:10pm
  • Session 4: August 5-8, 12-15
  • All time slots are available with 2 spots
    • 11:00-11:30am
    • 11:40-12:10pm
    • 3:30-4:10pm
    • 4:20-4:50pm
    • 5:00-5:30pm
    • 5:40-6:10pm

*Session cost will be $120

Due to our pool only having one shallow lane, we can only offer two spots per time slot UNLESS the swim lesson participant is able to swim in deeper water. In that case, we will allow additional spots per time slot.

How Do I Sign Up?

Please complete the current registration form- Summer 2013 Registration Form to open the link. This form can be faxed to 408-551-7180 or if you have Adobe Reader (9.0 or higher), you can fill it out on your computer and email the saved form to aquatics@scu.edu

You will be emailed a receipt upon registration. If the time you have requested as your number one choice is not available you will be called to determine which time works best for you of available openings. 

If we do not have a spot for you we will place you on a waiting list. We will notify you that you are on the waiting list. Your payment information on the above form will be shredded and not processed until a spot is open for you. We will contact you when a spot opens to ensure you are still available and take payment then.

What Kind of Experience Do the Instructors Have?

All swim instructors are current SCU students with experience teaching lessons, as well as current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications.

What is the Cancellation, No Show & Refund Policy for Swim Lessons?

Campus Recreation does not provide make-up lessons for lessons missed for personal reasons. Classes will not be extended for late arrivals. 

Refunds will be given for individual classes missed due to pool issues or for medical reasons when accompanied by a doctor's note.

Full refunds will be given when 14 days notice is given, less a cancellation fee of $40. All refund requests must be submitted via email to aquatics@scu.edu.

All refunds, once approved, will take 4-6 weeks to process and you will be mailed a check to the address you provided for your refund.
