Modern Perspectives : Engaging the 21st Century in the Ignation Tradition

The Modern Perspectives RLC brings together students with a rich variety of backgrounds and interests to build a residential community for both study and friendship. In line with the Jesuit tradition, our students share an interest in the global dimensions of life in the new millennium, becoming aware of not only "what is" but asking the deeper questions upon reflection of "what should be?"

Through the Community Council, floor units, and informal interest groups, Modern Perspectives challenges its students to become aware of what's going on in our world by engaging in the social, political, and economic questions key to the world of the 21st century. We emphasize:

Life — academic support, personal responsibility, decision making, career and vocation discernment
Love — social and cultural awareness, exploring perspectives, community service, social justice
Leadership — reflection on ethics and leadership, values dialogue, citizenship, community engagement

Active involvement in our RLC guides students toward a vision of practical leadership in service to campus and community. The energy and ideas that come from our students make Modern Perspectives an exciting place to live and learn about themselves, others, and what it means to not only be a "good leader" but also a "leader for good" in service to our local, national, and global community.
