Xavier RLCXavier Residential Learning Community recognizes the world today as a global reality and sees itself as a place where students interested in global issues and problems can come together to better understand their world. Xavier is an RLC for those who want to make a difference in the world, and who want to participate in the Jesuit tradition of the integration of faith and justice. In Xavier, you will have the opportunity to analyze the structures of ongoing globalization, explore the implications of global solidarity, and investigate how you might contribute to making a more just world. One major way that Xavier fosters and invites global solidarity is through immersion programs. Over the years Xavier students have built houses in Mexico, participated in alternative spring breaks, and spent weeks in El Salvador learning about the people, their culture, history, and struggles, and collaborating with them in service projects in rural parts of the country. Xavier Council, composed of elected student leaders, plays a major role in all aspects of the RLC. They take the lead in organizing events including weekly Monday night dinners, Mardi Gras celebrations, Superbowl parties, intramural sports, and social events of all kinds. If you would like to live and learn with a group of friends interested in globalization, in an expanded sense of human community, in a global solidarity concerned with building a more just world, join the Xavier Learning Community.
