Shannon Buscho senior vice president of planning and distribution at Old Navy.
Shannon Buscho is an alumna from SCU and a current leader in the retail industry. Her diverse experiences and interests have led her to be the success that she is today. She is currently working at Gap Inc. and was recently promoted to senior vice president of planning and distribution at Old Navy.

Buscho graduated from Santa Clara with a degree in sociology in 1974. As a Mervyn's employee during college, she enjoyed working with the public, people, and fashion. After graduation, she continued with the expanding retailer and started in their College Executive Training Program, where she saw the company grow from 6 to 301 stores. She later moved to their headquarters, where she held several executive positions in planning and distribution, merchandising, and store operations and management.

Buscho saw the opportunities for women in an executive role expanding as the Hayward, California retail company offered her the position executive vice president, stores.

In 1998, Buscho left Mervyn's. During this time, she gave a lot back to the community. She is on the Board of Directors of CORO, a dedicated organization that develops community leaders through a nine month fellowship program. She has been a member of the RMI Advisory Board since 1996, which she enjoys because of her connections with the Santa Clara University students. In addition, she also enjoys the interaction with other business leaders in the industry through the RMI Advisory Board meetings, projects and events.

Buscho saw the

expanding ....
In 2003, she was recruited out of early retirement by the Gap Inc., Old Navy brand for the position of vice president, communications and operations. Her role as a leader in this department was to help deliver the brand to the customer while bringing the employees together as a cohesive team. She attributed their success to diversity, perspective, commitment and developing skills. She is now Old Navy's senior vice president of planning and distribution. Buscho has had a very successful and vibrant career in retail. "You have to like change," she said of this dynamic industry and "love showing up for challenges."
