Retail Technology Summit - Tokyo 2004

RMI Director Dale Achabal presented at the Retail Technology Summit in Tokyo on Sept. 10, 2004. His presentation focused on future directions in retail optimization. Presenting how the application of decision support systems discrete merchandise processes such as planning, buying, pricing, and promotions, would be capable of supporting more strategic marketing and collaborative processes both within and across organizations. The optimized merchandise processes will greatly improve the effectiveness and consistency of merchandise decision-making throughout the retail enterprise. Further, the increased penetration of optimization technology will provide an easier bridge to the retailer's trading partner's demand-based production and product development efforts.

The Retail Technology Summit was attended by chief information officers and information systems managers from major global corporations in the distribution industry and standardization organizations.
