Continued generosity has fostered immense growth for the RMI Scholarship program. The most recent addition to the program is the Jill Curran Retail Studies Scholarship. This commemorative scholarship will enable up to four RMI students to attend the National Retail Federation Convention and Expo in New York City. This new addition, combined with the annual support of past donors, allows for all RMI students to attain first-hand experience in the world of retail. Funded by both individuals and corporations, the scholarship awards total over $50,000 for 16 RMI students.
The John F. & Marguerite Kilmartin Scholarship was awarded to juniors Laura Brennan, Carlie Brown, and Mallorie Kumpf. The Howard & Mary Lester Endowed Scholarships were given to juniors Andrew Dapprich and Christine Tran. Junior Erica Paul received the Joseph C. Vesce Memorial Scholarship, and junior Jessica Nicolas earned the Mervyn's Scholarship.
The RMI Alumni Association Scholarship, chaired by RMI alumnae and advisory board member Mark Brashear '83, was awarded to junior Vinsent Leonardi. Junior Melissa Eckel and sophomore Michael Vincent received the Western Association of Food Chains Scholarship.
This is the fourth year the Jack Kilmartin, Ellen Magnin Newman, and Philip S. Schlein endowed scholarships were given. These three scholarships, which were created to acknowledge the dedication of these founding board members, were awarded to juniors Erica Paul, Natalie Dagan, and Melissa Eckel respectively.
The Achabal family scholarship, created by Dale Achabal, director of the RMI program, was given to sophomore Michael Vincent. Sophomore Jaime Weaver received the Strategic Mindshare Scholarship and fellow sophomore Kevin Teh received the Wal*Mart Scholarship.
The annual ceremony during which these scholarships were awarded honored the efforts and accomplishments of the graduating RMI seniors, as well as paid tribute to the generosity of RMI supporters. The financial support of these benefactors greatly expands the range of opportunities available to RMI students, and for this, they are undoubtedly grateful.
