RSSA Fundraiser- by Leila Motamedi

RMI Associate Director Cynthia Gamage and RSSA students set up the table for the fundraiser opportunity drawing.
Over the past few years the Retail Studies Student Association has hosted an annual fundraiser to raise money for events and education. This year, RSSA decided to bring back its very successful opportunity drawing. The time, effort and participation given to the drawing led to the most successful RSSA fundraiser to date.

Fundraiser Chair Alexis Held, along with her committee, contacted numerous companies through letters and phone calls for donations. They were able to receive donations from over 20 different retailers ranging from gift cards to actual prizes. Tickets went on sale January 6 and sold for $2 each.

To increase the probability of selling all of our tickets, we capped the opportunity drawing at 2,000. Being one of our unique selling points, this helped us reach our goal of $4,000 and gave ticket buyers a higher chance of winning. All members were required to participate in the fundraiser by selling a share of the tickets.

Thank You

Many tickets were sold through e-mail advertisement and through tables in Benson Memorial Center. The tables helped raise awareness and interest in our event and encouraged others to join the program.

On February 4, over 60 prizes were drawn and many happy people were notified. Prizes were also awarded to the top three ticket sellers.

The money from this drawing will be used for future community outreach, recruiting, and other RSSA related events. The Retail Studies Program, with the help of generous donors, was able to make this fundraiser amazing. Thank you to all those who have helped make this such a successful event!
