Each year, the RMI program and its donors make important and sizable contributions to RMI students’ educations through its scholarship program. This year, $40,500 was given to 15 outstanding RMI student scholars. Continued generosity has fostered immense growth for the RMI Scholarship program.
The Jill Curran Retail Management Scholarship Awards both honor and remember beloved Santa Clara student Jill Curran, Class of 2004. Established by her family and friends at Santa Clara to honor Jill’s devotion to her studies in Retail Management and to honor a special love she had for New York City, these awards truly celebrate Jill’s enthusiasm and spirit. They provide an opportunity for up to four students in the Retail Studies Program to attend the National Retail Federation Convention and Expo in New York City. The 2007-2008 Jill Curran Scholarships went to seniors Lizzy Brueggeman, Caitlin Hastings, and Jackie Oldenburg and junior Caroline Freytag.
RMI offers students another amazing scholarship opportunity to travel to the National Retail Federation Shop.org conference. This conference is a gathering of all those involved in the e-commerce divisions of their companies and companies that focus on products that can make these divisions run more effectively. This year, the Shop.org Scholarship was presented to juniors Robin Lund and Mary Lewis and seniors Danelle Mabubay and Amanda Martin.
The John F. and Marguerite Kilmartin Scholarship was awarded to seniors Caitlin Hastings, Danelle Mabubay and Jackie Oldenburg and junior Mary Lewis. The Howard and Mary Lester Endowed Scholarships were given to seniors Carissa Alcantar, Stephanie Kurtz and Amanda Martin. Senior Anna Eschenburg received the Joseph C. Vesce Memorial Scholarship.
The RMI Alumni Association Scholarship, chaired by RMI alumnus and Advisory Board member Mark Brashear ’83, went to senior Danelle Mabubay.
This is the seventh year the Ellen Magnin Newman and Philip S. Schlein Endowed Scholarships were given. These two scholarships, which were created to acknowledge the dedication of these founding board members, were awarded to juniors Caroline Freytag, Quinn Olson and Katrina Blanton-Hubbard respectively.
Senior Ashante Martin received the Western Association of Food Chains Scholarship.
The annual ceremony during which these scholarships were awarded honored the efforts and accomplishments of the graduating RMI seniors, as well as paid tribute to the generosity of RMI supporters. The financial support of these benefactors greatly expands the range of opportunities available to RMI students, and for this, they are undoubtedly grateful.
