Wrapping it All Up - An RMI Tradition

RMI students proudly show off wrapped gifts that are being donated to "New Yorkers for Children" in light of recent events.
A few dozen scissors, scotch tape, bows and wrapping paper, what else so you need? How about some festive cookies, eggnog, and presents for the Holiday Gift-Giving event held annually by the Retail Studies Student Association on November 28th, 2001. Held in the conference rooms of Benson Memorial Center at Santa Clara University, members of the program brought gifts for boys and girls of families afflicted this holiday season by the troubling times in our economy and world. Junior Jennifer Hooper coordinated the event and found a charity out of New York called “New Yorkers for Children” that we decided to donate the gifts to in light of recent events.

The Retail Management Institute .donated $300 toward the purchase of toys from a local Wal-Mart, who was generous enough to allow us to purchase the presents at a discount. Everyone was very excited to jump in to the holiday season with a fun event like this one. “Helping kids who don’t have as much as others is always a rewarding feeling. Tonight really helped me get into the holiday spirit,” said Sophomore Laura Del Santo. The night was a great success and we were able to help some people not so fortunate as we are, and that’s what the holidays are all about sharing love and joy.
