On June 14, family, friends, and faculty gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating RMI seniors. This annual ceremony also acknowledged those students who received scholarships for the 2002-2003 academic year. Seven outstanding RMI students were awarded merit and need based scholarships, totaling $42,000. Individuals and corporations who have funded both endowments and annual gifts provided these scholarships.

The John F. & Marguerite Kilmartin and Joseph C. Vesce endowed scholarships were awarded to seniors Katherine Harding, Eryn Holl, Bryant Peterson, Lindsay Phares and juniors Shiloh Uhlir and

Carin Posedel. The Howard & Mary Lester Scholarship was given to Katie Harding and Natalie Warga. The newly established RMI Alumni Association Scholarship, chaired by RMI alumnus and Advisory Board member, Mark Brashear ’83, was awarded to Eryn Holl. Bryant Peterson received the Western Association of Food Chains Scholarship and the Wal*Mart Scholarship was awarded to Shiloh Uhlir.

Last year, three endowed scholarships were established in the names of Jack Kilmartin, Ellen Magnin Newman, and Philip S. Schlein. These scholarships were created to acknowledge their dedication to RMI as founding Board members and industry leaders. This year the Newman Scholar is Carin Posedel, the Kilmartin Scholar is Katherine Harding, and the Schlein Scholar is Natalie Warga.

While the ceremony paid tribute to all of the efforts of graduating seniors and current students, the generous benefactors of the RMI program also are worthy of special recognition. Their outstanding financial support has increased the number of scholarship opportunities for deserving students. With this important support, RMI has continued to prepare promising, motivated students for key roles in the Retail Business world.
