Scholarship Opens Internet Retailing World to Students

Four RMI students, along with Professor Kirthi Kalyanam, attended the Shop.org Conference in Orlando, from January 22-24.

The Shop.org conference offered the students an opportunity to experience the growth and innovation of retailing online. With presentations from such retail leaders as Janet Beasley, director of E-Commerce Systems at Urban Outfitters; Brett Hurt, the CEO and founder of Bazaarvoice; and Bob Myers, senior vice president of QVC.com, students were able to hear first-hand about the challenges and struggles of e-commerce in addition to the innovative path e-commerce will forge for the future.

Reflecting upon their experiences in Orlando, students recall the changing face of e-commerce, the benefits and pitfalls of Web 2.0, and the challenges of mobile marketing in the articles that follow.
