Internship Opportunities

The retail studies internship programs provide the opportunity for students to put classroom theory into practice in a real world retail experience. The internship is ten weeks, full time and generally takes place the summer between a student's junior and senior year.

The Retail Management Institute faculty and staff work closely with students to identify opportunities that match interests and skills. The internship preparation process begins winter quarter and includes resume workshops, information sessions, corporate tours and more!

This opportunity provides students with experience in the retail industry needed for such a competitive job market. Over two-thirds of RMI graduates have chosen a career in retail management and several of them with the company they interned.

This past summer RMI students had the opportunity to intern with these retail companies:

Hill/Holiday Advertising Agency

Kendall-Jackson

La Rinconada Country Club Golf Store

Macy*s Federated

"My intership was a constant hands-on experience. From the buying offices to the store, everyday was changing, and the exposure to day-to-day responsibilities has given me the confidence to enter the retail industry."
- Leila Motamedi,  Interned at Macy*s West.

"Working at Gap Inc. was an absolutely amazing experience. Being a communications major and retail minor, working for the Internal Communications department for Gap Outlet was the perfect medley of two very different fields."
- Denise Bertuccelli, Interned at GAP.

"I had a great experience at World Market indulging in a multitude of tasks and points of interest, including web design, market research, radio advertisement, weekly returns on press, supply chain management, inventory management, and so much more."
-
Kellan McNamara, Interned at Cost Plus World Market.
