Daisy Huang M.S. ’05 writes, "Greetings from Fairbanks, Alaska! March is almost drawing to a close, but I am watching snow fall outside my window. I have just completed my PhD in mechanical engineering and applied physics. Best wishes to the Bronco family! I am attaching a photo of a yearling moose that has just destroyed my bird feeder."

Rebecca (Regan) Freeman '05 and Peter Freeman were married in Golden, Colo., on Sept. 22, 2012.

Cristina (Guzman) Fierro '05 and Mark Fierro '05 welcomed their second child, Mark Enrique Fierro, on February 5, 2012.  He weighed 6lb 2oz and was 18.5 inches long. The family resides in St. Louis, where Mark is a fourth year resident in OB/GYN. Cristina is a registered nurse and a recent DAISY Award recipient.

Aloe Driscoll '05 was hired as a marketing coordinator at Awe Sum in Santa Cruz. Prior she worked in the sales and marketing department for Nanosolar in San Jose. This is her first job in the produce industry.

Kevin Collins J.D. ’05, after five years of prosecuting drunk-in-public and DUI jury trials in San Mateo County, has been assigned to the General Felony trial team, where he specializes in small amounts of narcotics and is assigned to the Minor Vendor Unit.

Carlie Brown ’05 and Lance Ogren exchanged marriage vows Oct. 12 at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in New York. A reception was held at Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers on the banks of the Hudson River.

She is the daughter of Shelly and Steve Brown of Orland. He is the son of Dorothy Ogren of Manchester, N.J. They met while coaching swimming at Chelsea Piers Athletic Club. She graduated from Santa Clara University in Santa Clara and is a freelance event and promotion coordinator.

He graduated from St. John's University in New York and works as a personal trainer and swim coach. He has swum the English Channel and holds the world record for the 17.5-mile Ederle Open Water Swim.

They honeymooned at Kruger National Park and Durban, South Africa and live in Manhattan.

Rev. Robert Ballecer M.Div. ’05, who is known as the Digital Jesuit because of his knowledge of technology and his high profile online and on social media networks, was profiled in the San Jose Mercury News on Nov. 30.

Recently Ballecer was named director of the Center for Apostolic Technology, and for the last three years, he has served in Washington, D.C., as the director of national vocation promotion, overseeing the Jesuits' efforts to encourage young men to consider the priesthood.

Matthew Wood '03, a practicing engineering in accident reconstruction, and wife Jennifer Wood,  an HR business partner with the Bank of New York Mellon, welcomed twins on June 5, 2012 - a baby girl, Emma, and a baby boy, Bingham. The family lives in Atlanta.

Michael Spencer MBA ’06 and his wife, Elizabeth, are thrilled to announce the birth of their third son, Matthew Collins Spencer. He was born on May 23, 2012. The family lives in the Old Fig Garden neighborhood of Fresno.

Lindsey Hart ’06 and Jonathan Saxon on Oct. 27, 2012. The wedding party included SCU alumni Katie Reedy ’06, Kendall Craver ’06, Claire Bickenbach ’06, and Chrissie (Moreno) Smith ’05. Also in attendance were Maggie (Kaufman) Coffey ’07, Marisa (Randazzo) Fillmon ’06, Drew Gulick ’06, Francesca (Zanfini) Koscielak ’06, Brian Koscielak ’06, Varant Ovanessoff ’06, Alex Rhodes ’06, Blake Twisselman ’05, and Michael Vincent ’06. The couple lives in Chicago, Ill.

Marc Rasmussen ’06 married Laura Faulkner  May 27, 2012, at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Fla. Rasmussen leads business analyses and research at Forward Management in San Francisco. This fall he will begin an MBA program at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business.

Mike Pienovi ’06 and his wife, Kate, have recently moved to Shanghai, China, where Mike is pursuing a carrer as a TI technical sales engineer. After receiving his electrical engineering and marketing bachelor's degrees from Santa Clara University, he has been working to support TI's American-based customers with design sites in China. His attempt to build a bridge between the American and Chinese teams has lead both teams to new prospects, applying both the business and technical asepcts tothe job.

Erin (Davis) Meyer '06 and husband Nathan welcomed their first child, Kristopher, in January 2012.

Ryan Kennedy '05 and Sara (Brown) '06 were married surrounded by family and friends on June 2, 2012, in southwest Michigan.

Toriana S. Holmes '06 is an associate practicing bankruptcy law at the law firm of Severson & Werson, P.C. in San Francisco.

Kent Harkness ’05 and Elizabeth Warburton ’06 were married in Houston, Texas on August 16, 2012.

Bently Guglielmi ’06 writes: “My little sister, Jacqueline Taylor ’12, just graduated from SCU, along with my sister-in-law Gina Guglielmi ’12 and my first cousin Stephanie Carmassi ’12. This was a special graduation because we are the fifth generation to attend this fine university, yes fifth. It dates back to Adolph Gericke ’89, followed by Emile Maloney ’26 and his brother Harold Maloney ’24. Emile’s son and my uncle, Richard Maloney ’52, is our grandmother’s (Sheila Carmassi’s) brother. Sheila married Herm Carmassi, from the dynamic class of ’56, and their son Steve Carmassi ’84 is Stephanie’s father. I even attended his graduation in the Mission Garden back in the day. To go a step further, my husband, Tony Guglielmi ’06, and I were married by Father Tony Sauer ’56, good friend and classmate of Herm Carmassi. Fr. Sauer also baptized a future bronco: Giuliana. We took a photo at the picnic, which I hope to find, of three of the five generations who recently attended this warm ceremony last Saturday. They included my grandfather Herm, his son Steve, his daughter Stephanie, my brother Ryan Taylor ’10, my sister Jacqueline, my husband Tony, and his sister Gina. We are so proud to be a part of this fine institution. Let the tradition continue.”

Christina Fialho ’06, J.D. ’12 and her colleague Christina Mansfield were named 2012 Echoing Green Fellows for Social Change. Echoing Green provides more than $2 million in seed support social entrepreneurs from around the world every year.

The pair will launch a new project -- Community Initiatives for Visiting Immigrants in Confinement (CIVIC) -- with support from Echoing Green for the first two years. CIVIC is a national network of immigration detention visitation groups, with a mission to end the isolation and abuse of persons in immigration detention by building and strengthening community visitation programs across the U.S. They will provide support to current visitation groups, resources and training to new groups, and a communication platform for all visitation groups.

Fialho, a social activist for immigrant rights and the daughter of an immigrant, has assisted in defending immigrants from detention and deportation before the U.S. Immigration Courts and has argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She currently serves on the steering committee of the Detention Watch Network, and her scholarly publications focus on the intersection of immigration law, constitutional law, and international human rights. Prior to starting CIVIC, she co-founded the first immigration detention visitation program in California.

Tori (Markey) ’06 and Aaron Cardenas were married on June 23, 2012, at Bava Ranch in Hughson, Calif. The wedding party included SCU alumni Eric Cardenas '92, Jamie Weaver '06, Laurie Sherry '06, Erin Hurley '05, Jessica King Klem '05 and Cadi Imbs Olsen '06.
