Barbara Beard Stephan ’74, M.A. ’78 writes that she has recently assumed the position of Clinical Director at Windhorse Integrative Mental Health in San Luis Obispo, Calif. She is delighted to be working in an environment that is in line with her view of psychology—honoring humanistic and relational ideals, as well as an integrative/holistic approach to healthcare.
John Stege '74 joined Global Trust Bank in Mountain View as Vice President, Business Development, in June 2009. He and his wife Laura just finished the San Jose Rock and Roll Half Marathon October 4th. He also is the drummer for The Sparkletones, a 50's Rock & Roll Revival Band. Laura and John live in Aptos, Calif.
Jim Spain '74 has been named the regional managing director of Colliers International, responsible for directing day-today operations of COllier's four regional offices. Spain has been affiliated with Colliers International since 1982, first as an industrial land and business park broker and then as the managing director of the Carlsbad office.
Dave Scott '74, JD '77 writes: "Retired in 2002 from Silicon Valley. Spending time doing volunteer work for Norcal USTA, traveling around Europe, and splitting time between our homes in California and Colorado. Married, no kids, but friends all over."
James M. Schiavenza '71, J.D. '74 has been named dean of Lincoln Law School of Sacramento where he has been an adjunct professor of law for more than 25 years. He recently retired from the State Attorney Genral's Office where he has worked since 1975. Jim, his wife, Ellen, and daughter Kathleen reside in Sacramento.

Kara L. Ruckriegel '74 is a first-grade teacher and has taken on additional responsibilities as a mentor teacher. This involved assisting teachers to improve the quality of their teaching to enhance student achievement.
Tom Robinson '74 is chair of the National Association of Convenience Stores. He is president of Santa Clara, Calif.-based Robinson Oil Corp. Robinson has been a member of the NACS Board of Directors since 2006. Most recently, he served as the NACS vice chairman-treasurer, overseeing the association’s financial plan. Before that, he served as NACS vice chairman of government relations. Robinson Oil Corporation operates 34 Rotten Robbie stores throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area and markets fuel to commercial customers through the Pacific Pride and CFN commercial fueling networks. Robinson has been with the company since 1974. The fourth-generation company was founded in the 1930s and has been operating under the Rotten Robbie brand since 1973. Robinson earned a B.S. in economics from Santa Clara University. He is past president of the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America (SIGMA) and is active in the California Independent Oil Marketers Association. He also is a life member of the 25 Year Club of the Petroleum Industry.
Gary Ritchey '74 has been named a partner at Hopkins & Carley in San Jose. His particular emphasis is patent litigation, although he has represented clients on a variety of intellectual property and business litigation matters.
James Quillinan '74 writes that his first grandchild, Caitlin Grace Quliinan, was born February 17, 2010. Proud grandparents will spoil her. James continues to practice law as Chair of the family wealth and Tax Planning department at Hopkins and Carley.
Rodolfo Orjales '74 is a judicial attache for the Department of Justice at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is responsible for judicial assistance, extraditions, and judicial training.
Gregory Morris J.D. ’74 is a national consultant for the West Hazelton information technology company. He has more than 30 years of experience in public policy law.
Denise Traficanto McGraw ’72, M.A. ’74 teaches first grade at an Orange County Magnet School. Her husband Ambrose is semi-retired as a federal auditor and business professor. Both their adult daughters work as teaching assistants, respectively in Orange County and in northern France.
Doug McDonald MBA '74 retired after 32 years as an executive with the Boy Scouts of America, having served as CEO in Stockton, San Jose, and Sacramento. He is active in Rotary, Habitat for Humanity, and other community organizations in the Grass Valley area.
Steven Mattos '74 writes, "Moved to Lodi, Calif., in semi-retirement state. Will be consulting with Amazon on their opening of a new 1.2-million-square-foot fulfillment warehouse in Tracy, Calif. Still blessed with my four children—now adults—and my four grandchildren, with one more due next March. All is good in life. Hello to all my fellow Broncos, Class of 1974."
Greg Lamb MBA ’74 is a principal at EnergyOurWay.com LLC, an energy services consulting company. Lamb has 30 years of experience in the process and energy sectors. He and his wife, Pam, are enjoying their four grandchildren and live in the Salt Lake City area.

Tim Johnson '71, '74 M.A. writes: "Karen & I celebrated 40 years (40 mutually agreeable/satisfying 1 year contracts!), with 2 daughters, 6 grandkids (8-13). Live in San Jose/Almaden Valley, while I toil to keep Karen in new shoes. Two knee replacements, almost hairless, carrying a few extra kilos, but still an optimist with a gratitude for my faith, family and friends."
Sam Imperati '74 is the Executive Director of the Institute for Conflict Management, Inc (ICM), an Oregon-based, national and international provider of mediation, facilitation, and training services. Imperati has been an attorney for more than 31 years, is Martindale-Hubble AV rated, and has managed more than 2,500 disputes. He was formerly Assistant Corporate Counsel with Nike, in private practice, and has handled litigation and mediated everything from “Admiralty to Zoning.” He has served as a Judge Pro Tem, as Chair of the Oregon State Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, and as an Executive Committee member of the Portland Neighborhood Mediation Center Advisory Committee. Imperati has been a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR), the Oregon Mediation Association (OMA), the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2), and the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD). He was on the OSB Ethics Committee, was Chair of the Multnomah Local Professional Responsibility Committee, and serves on OMA’s Standards and Practices Committee. He appears in the 2006 through 2011 editions of The Best Lawyers in America for mediation. He was the recipient of the 2007 Oregon Mediation Association Sid Lezak Award of Excellence for Outstanding Service to the Profession of Mediation in Oregon. In 2010, he received the Oregon State Bar ADR Section, Lezak Award for mediation.
Mark Hyde J.D. ’74 formed a nonprofit organization to challenge what was proposed to be the largest shopping center in Maui County, Hawaii, and prevailed before the Hawaii Land Use Commission in January. In February he received the 2013 Malama Ka Aina award from the Maui Chapter of the Sierra Club for his work.
Linda (Bader) Harroff '74 is enjoying retirement in Maine by sailing, gardening, and volunteering. She writes, "It beats work!"
Steve Flint '74 has joined the University of Idaho Department of Rangeland Ecology and Management as an Affiliate Instructor.
Constantin Delivanis MBA '74, an entrepreneur who co-founded Sand Hill Group, BDNA, a source of information about IT infrastructure, and was the creator of Technopedia.com, a social community for IT professionals, was profiled in Forbes for his contributions to the Silicon Valley Start-up Common.
Patrice (Koda) Coyle ’74 is serving her second term as chair of the Dignity Health Sacramento Service Area Board and was honored to meet President Obama, White House senior staff, and congressional leaders in February. She continues to serve on the boards of Cristo Rey High School and Mercy Foundation and joined the California Hospital Association’s Governance Forum in 2011.
Patrice Koda Coyle '74, representing Dignity Health, was elected chair of the California Hospital Association's Governance Forum. She is a member of CHA's Executive Committee and Board of Trustees.
John A. Chickosky ’74 is president and CEO of Natrix Separations Inc, a supplier of high-performance disposable chromatography products to the life science, food, beverage, and water markets. Chickosky has been a member of the Natrix Board of Directors since mid-2010 and will continue to hold a board seat. Natrix Board Chairman Jim Iuliano commented, “John has been instrumental in assessing our technology and shaping our business strategy as a member of the board, and we are thrilled to have him leading the company during this exciting new phase of its development. He is widely respected among biopharm industry leaders and has demonstrated a deft hand in commercializing new technologies in this space.”
Chickosky added, “Natrix’s patented advective high-capacity chromatography technology has been well-received by the industry, and we are confident that it will deliver a step-change improvement in the way downstream processing is handled. We now have the right team and a focused plan to swiftly deliver the promise of Natrix’s core technology to customers who need it to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing bioproduction environment.”
Most recently, Chickosky was Chief Commercial Officer and President of the BioSystems Division of Xcellerex, Inc., where he led the development and execution of the company’s commercial strategy. He brings more than 20 years of senior management experience with life science technology companies, including senior positions at Kendro Laboratory Products (now part of ThermoFisher), CARR Separations, and Sepracor, Inc. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Santa Clara University and an MBA from St. Mary’s College.
