Kerrie Romanow MBA ’02 was named as San Jose's director of the environmental services department, which she has led for the past year as it oversees services for wastewater, drinking water, trash and recycling collection.
Romanow began her career in San Jose in 2006 as assistant director of environmental services, the second-highest position in the department. Before that she worked for Sunnyvale-based consulting firm Environmental and Occupational Risk Management Inc., Filtronic Solid State in Santa Clara and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

Maria Quintero J.D. ’02 is now a senior attorney at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in San Francisco, handling civil litigation defense and appellate matters.
Maren (Hawkins) Pellant '02 and husband Butch Pellant welcomed daughter, Sawyer Jane, on february 18th, 2010. Sawyer joins big brother Beckham 4, and big sister, Tylie,3.
Ken Shadman Ota '02 completed his Family Medicine Residency in June. Ken is initiating his unique Transitional Care Medicine Program at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix, Ariz., in August. Ken thanks his Santa Clara Advisor, Associate Professor of Biology David Tauck, for helping guide him to his medical career.
Maribeth (Bleymaier) Oscamou '02 and her brothers started a new company called www.lateralsports.com. It's a website that aggregates online media content for college athletic teams, ranging from game times to information on favorite players and teams. It also features links to games being streamed online and free text message alerts when your favorite teams are playing. The website had been live for only a few weeks when it was noticed by the Wall Street Journal in the article Early Adopter: LateralSports.com–Kayak for College Sports Online."
Dan and Lisa (Mrkvicka) Mudgett '02 welcomed their first baby on April 3, 2009. Owen Robin Mudgett weighed 9 lbs 12 oz and measured 22 inches long. The new family is enjoying the spring weather in Seattle.
Lisa (Mrkvicka) Mudgett ’02 and husband Dan welcomed baby boy Joshua Graham to their family on Jan. 17, 2012, weighing 9 pounds 4 ounces and measuring 20 inches tall. Big brother Owen loves his new friend, and will be turning 3 in April. The family lives in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, and Lisa is working as a consulting healthcare actuary.
Michael Mooney ’02 was named to Puget Sound Business Journal’s 2012 "40 Under 40" list. Mooney is director of risk management and insurance at the Americas at Expeditors International and co-founder and vice president of ClimbOn.
Christine (Lupo) Montgomery '02 writes, "I received my Ph.D. in English from U.C. Santa Cruz in 2012 and now have a two-year postdoctoral position in the English department at my undergraduate university, Santa Clara."

Ramon Marquez III '02 and Nina Nejah '04, M.S. '07 exchanged vows in beautiful Mission Santa Clara on Nov. 1, 2008 after nearly eight years of courtship. Numerous SCU alumni attended the wedding including Groomsman Paulo Apolinario '02. Nina spends her days behind a desk as a Project Manager for Google, Inc. Meanwhile, Ramon has forgotten the office atmosphere chasing down wanted fugitives for the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. Ramon and Nina are happily married and reside in San Jose.
Ramon Marquez III '02 and Nina Nejah '04, M.S. '07 were blessed with a beautifuly baby girl, Jasmine F. Marquez, on Dec. 11, 2012. Baby Jasmine weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and measured 20.5 inches. The Marquez Family continues to reside locally in San Jose.
Valerie Trinidad ’02 and Justin Maggard were married at St. Victor’s Church in San Jose, Calif., on Sept. 10, 2011. They had several SCU alumni in the wedding party including brother Mark Trinidad ’04; friends Beverly Cabrera Galang ’02, Lorraine Leonardo ’02, and Jennifer Ramones ’02; and even more alumni in attendance. The couple honeymooned in Europe and currently resides in Fremont.
Michael MacKinnon ’02 and Melissa Ebner on April 28, 2012, in Estes Park, Colo. The bride is the daughter of Cecilia Jensen and Norm Sheppard of Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada and Heinz Ebner and Holly Arnold of Boulder, Colo. She graduated from Boulder High School and attended the University of Colorado Boulder. She is employed as a nurse practitioner.
Stephanie (Deddens) MacDonald '01 and Michael MacDonald '02 welcomed their first child, son Luke Michael born on April 19, 2010. He was 7lbs. 4 oz. and 20 inches long. Stephanie is a first grade teacher in San Jose and Michael is a real estate attorney in Palo Alto. The family lives in San Jose.

Paul Laurie '02 co-founded Walking Tree Travel, a summer Peace Corps–like program for teens that works in countries from China to Costa Rica, Senegal to Spain. Annually the company senda hundreds of teens to small villages to build schools, learn about local culture, and, most important, return to teach their friends about a world outside of the United States.
