Denise Traficanto McGraw ’72, M.A. ’74 teaches first grade at an Orange County Magnet School. Her husband Ambrose is semi-retired as a federal auditor and business professor. Both their adult daughters work as teaching assistants, respectively in Orange County and in northern France.

Loris, William

William T. Loris '68, J.D. '72 serves as PROLAW's Program Director and as a Senior Lecturer at Loyola University Chicago's Law School. He comes to Loyola after a distinguished career in international service. He served for five years in Abidjan, Ivory Coast as a Regional Legal Advisor for West Africa to the US Agency for International Development (USAID), working on the legal aspects of the USAID program across West and Central Africa, followed by five years in Cairo as a Legal Advisor in USAID's Egypt mission. He then co-founded the International Development Law Institute, a Dutch foundation, which was later transformed into an inter-governmental organization, the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), by an international convention. IDLO is now a key international institution in the promotion of the rule of law and good governance in developing countries, countries in economic transition, and countries emerging from violent conflict.

Kaminski, Linda

Linda Kaminski 72 was named superintendent of California’s Azusa Unified School District. Kaminski has worked for years as an administrator as well as a bilingual teacher and was selected as superintendent because of her "variety of experiences," Azusa's school board president said in an interview. Karminski has a master's degree from Pepperdine and a master's and doctorate from Harvard University's Urban Superintendents Program.

Fardella served in a number of leadership roles at the Seattle Times over 15 years, most recently as senior vice president/business operations. She left the company in 2010 and has since served in a consulting role. Carrico, William "Bill"

William "Bill" N. Carrico ’72 was selected as a School of Engineering Centennial Award recipient for his achievements as a leader in entrepreneurship, furthering not only the engineering profession, but the School of Engineering at Santa Clara as well. Carrico began his career working at Fairchild Semiconductor and Zilog. During his career, he co-founded seven networking companies in Silicon Valley. The first, Bridge Communications, went public in the mid-1980s and was later acquired by 3Com Corporation, at which time Bill became president of 3Com. Several ventures later, Carrico cofounded Packet Design in 2000 where he serves as chairman. He has served in an advisory capacity on numerous boards in the Valley and is widely known and respected for his keen business insight and innovation.

Rory Cantando '72 writes: "Diane and I will be celebrating our 30-year wedding anniversary by spending a couple of weeks on a Mediterranean cruise which begins in Rome (on September 29th and ends October 11th). We will visit Alexandria, Egypt, Jerusalem and one other port in Israel, Santorini, Naples and then returning to Rome. I am sorry that I will not be able to attend the reunion."

Barsanti, Shelly (Bruneau)

Shelly (Bruneau) Barsanti ’72, a Los Gatos resident and long-time American Cancer Society volunteer, was awarded the St. George National Award at the American Cancer Society California Division Annual Board of Director's meeting on Oct. 29. This honor is presented to an outstanding volunteer in recognition of distinguished service in achieving the Society's strategic goals. “The American Cancer Society has an invaluable resource and leader in Shelly Barsanti,” said Michael Chae, Vice President, Silicon Coastal Region of the American Cancer Society. “The theme for the Board this year is ‘fighting for more birthdays starts with you,’ and Shelly is a shining example with her passion and dedication to our mission.” A breast cancer survivor, Barsanti has been a tireless leader and advocate for the American Cancer Society for 16 years. When she discovered that one of the great gaps in cancer support is for young adults, she helped found, fund, and organize a support group for young cancer patients between the ages of 19-30. She is passionate about making the volunteer experience both rewarding and educational while recognizing volunteers for their time and talents.

Mark Atlas '72, J.D. '75 has joined the Sacramento-based law firm Downey Brand as Of Counsel in their water practice group. Mark also still has an office in Willows, and specializes in water rights, public agency and resources law, as well as business and estate planning. Downey Brand is Sacramento's largest law firm, with offices in several other Northern California cities and Reno, Nevada. The firm is not only noted for its water law practice, which dates back to its founding in 1926, but it is also recognized for its work in business, environmental, renewable energy, employment and family law.

Peter Wise BSME '69, MBA '73 came out of retirement and accepted a faculty research associate position at the University of Colorado's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics in 2009. He lives with his wife, Julie, and their three dogs in Louisville, Colo., where they enjoy rides on the Harley, writing their blogs, and conducting research on Julie's book about Christian Sacred Sexuality.
