Harry Wenberg '50 has been residing Saratoga for 34 years with wife Jean. He is in good health and will be celebrating his 85th birthday in October.

Eugene "Gene" A. Ravizza ’50 was selected as a School of Engineering Centennial Award recipient for his commitment to integrity while designing and executing cutting-edge electrical systems and for his ongoing support of his alma mater. In 1954 Ravizza co-founded Cupertino Electric, a company that has grown into one of the top 10 electrical contracting firms in the country. Innovative problem-solvers, the company has “powered the creation of Silicon Valley” through projects such as the first semiconductor chip fabrication plant to an ultra-energy-efficient data center, to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. He has generously supported the School of Engineering’s successful Solar Decathlon entries in 2007 and 2009, and has also created a scholarship fund for undergraduate engineers. Ravizza received the School of Engineering Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award in 1997.

Robert Lambert '50 and his wife Margaret will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 24, 2010.  This date in 1950 is one week after Robert graduated from Santa Clara. 

G. Steve Holeman '50 writes that he is happy in Lake Wildwood, near Grass Valley, Calif., playing golf and enjoying the beautiful lake. He attended the 65th high school reunion at Bellarmine in June.

G. Steve Holeman '50 writes, "Hope to make it to our 60th anniversary, God willing, and my health continues to improve."

Betty Ford '50 has been a member of the Catala Club, which is celebrating its 80 years on campus this spring, since 1974.

Cornelius Buckley, S.J., ’50 celebrated his golden jubilee of priesthood in March, when, to honor his life of service, his family and friends established a scholarship fund in his name at Thomas Aquinas College for financially challenged students. There, he is the head chaplain and assistant dean for religious affairs. Buckley has spent much of his academic career in Jesuit institutions—earning multiple degrees, teaching, and serving in administrative positions. His publications include the book When Jesuits Were Giants, Your Word, O Lord … Meditations for College Students and Anyone Else, and a translation of Simon Decloux’s The Ignatian Way. John Bower '50 stays home and watches mostly TV news. He writes, "Survival is good if your health holds up. My lifetime employer, IBM, is doing well."

Barnard J. Vogel Jr. ’51, J.D. ’56 writes: “A group of us from '51 along with spouses or dates get together 2 or 3 times a year for over 10 years. Inlcudes Jim Vaudanga '51, Neil Moran '51, Don Iden '51, Angelo Siracusa '51, Sam Winklebleck '51, Pierre Bouquet '51.”
 

Dick Schaub ’51 writes that he and wife Lou-Ann will attend his 55th Class Reunion at Harvard Business School June 8-11, 2011.
 

Frank Helfrich ’51 received a commendation in May from the Menlo Park Historical Association for 30 years of volunteer service. The  83-year-old historian and Menlo Park native helped to shepherd the nonprofit organziation almost from day one, archiving the town’s memories, which he still does. Leo Petrucci '52 has been married for 63 years. He is retired with three children, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Fr. Ed McMahon '52 writes that in his 80th year he has finished a 12 year research project with small groups called "Rediscovering the Lost Body-Connection Within Christian Spirituality."  It will be published shortly as a workbook with practical body-learnings and exercises that can transform a Christian's awareness of who Christ is today and who each of us is "in Christ."

Elio L. Martin '52 and his wife, Barbara, daughter of former SCU basketball coach Ray S. Pesco, have three children.  His three grandchildren are currently attending Santa Clara University (Lauren), St. Mary's College (Jamie), and Loyola Marymount University (Ricky).

Carroll C. Kearley '52, Professor Emeritus LMU, has had two books of poetry published 2009-2010 by Tebot Bach, Inc.: "Deity-Alphabets" and 'The Armenian Watchmaker."

Robert C. Gilkey ’52 writes: “I lived in Honolulu, Hawaii for over 50 years (1953-2007) before moving to Georgia to live near one of my sons. I was sports editor of the college newspaper during my sophomore (1949 Orange Bowl) year wonderful experience!”    

Marcel Fiore M.A. '66 retired from 17 years of high school teaching and administration. He coached wrestling, football, and baseball at Santa Clara High School and baseball at Wilcox High School. He is happily married to wife Bev of 54 years. They have four children, including David Fiore '79, and five grandsons.

Beverly Fiore '52 has been married for 56 years. She plays raquetball twice a week, works out, and visits her children and grandchildren. Great life!

Leslie R. Webber '53 writes, “My wife, Clarine, of 50 years died in 2009. I now live in a suburb of Nashville. For anyone traveling nearby, stop and touch base with an old classmate and the new lady in my life.”

Duane Louis '53 is still bravely battling his Huntington's Disease. He enjoys his family of 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

R.G. Kilkenny '53 retired from his company, Taylor Forge Engineered Systems. His son Mike now runs it. He is still chairman of the board. He has four children and 15 grandchildren.

Gary Kilkenny '53 writes: "Married 55 years to my wife Bev. Retired for 11 years. Still Chair of Board of Taylor Forge Engineered Systems. Four married children, 15 grandchildren. Granddaughter 'Abbey' will start at SCU this fall."

Thomas F. Joyce ’53 writes: “Retired—still married to the gal I married in 1946—our 65th anniversary in August. Seven children, eleven grand-children, 3 greats and we’re lucky to live in the beautiful wine country of Sonoma County.”




 

Marv Gregory '53 and his family visited West Point for the completion of "boot camp" for their grandson, Trevor, who is now a plebe at WP. While in the East, Marv he visited his roommate, Frank Edden '53, in Vermont. Attached is a picture of Marv with his wife Laura on the right and Frank with his wife Joanne on the left. Marv played on the Santa Clara Division I team in 1953.  He was voted MVP.  He also fought in the final of the NCAA Heavyweight boxing title that year.

Henry M Shea '54 writes "I really felt sad about missing my 55 year class reunion at University of Santa Clara in 2009.  However, my wife Joan and I spent it in Sausalito with our four children and their spouses.  We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary this year and I certainly hope to make it for our 60 year class reunion!"
