Christopher J. Reynolds '69 writes, "On April 1, 2011, the Maryland State Senate consented to my appointment by Gary D. Maynard, Maryland Secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, approved by Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, as a member of the Maryland Parole Commission. This will require that I close my private law practice in which I have engaged for the past 40 years but the challenge of the new position will allow me to transform my professional career into one of public service."

Dennis Raefield ’69 has joined the board of directors of Viscount Systems Inc., a high-technology supplier of security systems and software. Raefield has a long and distinguished career in the access control and security industry. Mr. Raefield was president of Honeywell Access Systems, a $100M+ division of Honeywell International, which manufactures enterprise-level access control systems for Fortune 100 clients. Prior, Raefield was president of Pinkerton Systems Integration (now Securitas), a $70M+ security system integration business installing video, access control, and alarms to Fortune 500 clients. He was also owner/CEO of Omega Corporate Security, a West Coast premier systems integrator based in the San Francisco area. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Santa Clara University, and is a member of ASIS, SIA, ESA, ISIO, CAA, and CSAA.

Michael Murphy ’69 writes that his current position is solutions developer, Acxiom Corp.

Patrick Mason ’69 writes, "I would be remiss if I did not add some facts on my wife, Christine Bjorklund 72. We have been married (by Father Pat Carroll at Mary Lautze Garland 70's resort in Sedona, Ariz.) for 33 years. Chris was the on-air Consumer Reporter for KGO-AM radio for 15 years and served on the Board of Directors of Consumer Reports Magazine for 24 years. She is currrently a Consumer Quality Consultant for Diamond Certified, a services rating company, and Podcast Editor for AllBusiness.com, a website for small business owners. She also works as a water aerobic exercise instructor at The Olympic Club and UCSF Mission Bay in San Francisco. Our two grown children went to Georgetown (Dan of New York City) and U of Portland and USF (Molly of Novato)."

Marilee Pierotti Lau '69 has been appointed to the ERISA Department of Labor Advisory Council in Washington, D.C., for a three-year term.

Jim C. Jones J.D. '69 retires after more than seven years as county council for Calaveras County. On Tuesday, July 12, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a Resolution thanking Council Jones for his outstanding service to the county.

Mark Janlois ’69 is a partner in Janlois Partners, LP, which owns and manages commercial properties in Contra Costa County.

Alan Higginson '69, MBA '71 was appointed to the board of directors of Pivot3, Inc., a leading provider of unified storage and compute appliances. Higginson, Chairman, Hubspan and F5 Networks, will provide his extensive technology and leadership experience of high-growth technology companies to the Pivot3 board and its management team.

With more than 20 years of senior executive and CEO experience in technology-related industries, Higginson applies his extensive leadership skills to help young companies grow and develop. His industry experience spans both private and public companies including Atrieva, F5 Networks and Hubspan. Prior to his work with start-up organizations, Higginson spent five years at Sierra On-Line as executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing.

Dan Hanley '67 MBA '69 J.D. '74 celebrated the birth of his granddaughter last August. He has been married to Judi Hanley since October 22.

Daniel E. Hanley MBA ’67, J.D. ’74 is still in private law practice in San Jose doing estate planning, probate, and business law. He practices with his son Sean Hanley, who does bankruptcy and debt relief. Dan recently became a grandfather with the birth of Brynn Hanley (daughter of Brian Hanley). Dan is happly married to Judi (since 1974). They live in Saratoga, Calif.

L. Laura Fritz '69 earned a master's of science degree in counseling psychology from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She lives with her husband, Mike Weber, in Las Vegas.  After years in private practice as a therapist and serving on several nonprofit boards, Laura became a professional fundraiser for the University and Community College System of Nevada for over 10 years.  Currently, Laura is a professional fundraiser with Catholic Healthcare West's St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation and recenlty voted Outstanding Professional Fundraiser of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Las Vegas Chapter.

Dr. Patrick Foley '69 has recently published his book Missionery Bishop: Jean-Marie Odin in Galveston and New Orleans (Texas A&M University Press). He has spent more than 20 years researching and writing the book.

Kevin J. Donahue '68 was named the California State Athletic Director of the Year for 2010-2011. He was also honored with the Distinguished Service Award from the Central Coast Section Athletic Directors Association, and the In Via Award from Serra High School, the highest honor the school confers on non-alumni. Donahue recently retired from Serra High School in San Mateo after 31 years at the school, where he served as Athletic Director the past 30 years. He lives in Danville with his wife Robin.

Ken Caillat ’69, Grammy-winning producer best known for producing the Fleetwood Mac record Rumours—the third largest-selling album of all time—just released the book Making Rumours: The Inside Story of the Classic Fleetwood Mac Album, which tells the wild, poignant, and exhilarating story behind the album’s creation. Following the huge commercial success of Rumours, Caillat also produced Tusk (1979), Live (1980), Mirage (1982), and The Chain (box set, originally released in 1992) for the British-American rock band.

Steve Bric ’69 writes that he is president of Hibernia Woolen Mills, which he founded in 1997. The extremely successful company manufactures residential and contract wool carpeting, with plans for growth.  He operates the business with his wife, Sharon Bric, whom he married in January 1979. "We enjoy the special friendships we have with our staff," writes Bric, who has two kids: Erin (who graduated from Boston College ) and Kevin ’05.

While at SCU, Bric was station manager at KSCU Radio Station from 1967–1968. He was also a member of Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity. After four years in ROTC, he was commissioned 2nd lieutenant. He completed officer’s basic at Fort Bliss, Texas, in air defense artillery, and served two years at Fort Ord, Calif., as a range officer with combat skills. Bric served four years in reserve duty with the rank of captain. His brother was killed in action in Vietnam while serving with Special Forces Secret Unit (SOG), facts only discovered 10 years ago, when Secrecy Agreements ran out.

Joseph A. Braun, Jr. '69 is the coordinator of professional development for the National Council for the Social Studies and led the third annual Teacher Education Institute on Powerful and Authentic Social Studies on the SCU campus in July. He is the co-author of "An Introduction to Standards-Based Reflective Teaching in Middle and High Schools" published by Teachers College Press. He lives in Carmel, Calif., with his wife, Anne Gosch, who is the librarian at Palma High and he is a co-founder of the band Doc Ricketts Crickets.

Robert Barengo '69 has been elevated from Nevada Tax Commissioner to the position of Chairman of the Nevada Tax Commission. Mr. Barengo is an attorney in Reno, Nev., and is a former Speaker of the Nevada State Assembly.  His record of public service in Nevada includes serving on the Nevada Tax Commission since 2003, serving as a member of the Nevada Insurance Commission (1996-2003), serving in the Nevada Assembly (1972-1982) and serving as a member of the City of Reno Financial Advisory Board (1998-1991). 

Edward Walsh '70, who retired from City of San Francisco service in Jan. 2009, went back to school to study math and science (his worst subjects in high school and college) toward a BS in Biology. He is also a commissioner/trustee of the Retiree Health Care Trust Fund, which funds medical care for retired City of San Francisco employees.

Ed Walsh '70 retired Jan. '09 from the City of San Francisco after 34 years and has gone back to school to study math, botany, and music. He also serves as Trustee of the Retiree Health Care Trust Fund for retired employees of the City of San Francisco.

Joseph A. Thomas-Sawaya '69, MBA '70 is recovering from cancer, mesothelioma, working part time as a psychologist in San Jose. Joseph has four children and eight grandchildren. 

Steve Schrey '70 has transitioned from his trial lawyer practice in San Francisco to a mediation and arbitration practice. He also now resides in Tiburon.

Greg Rixon '70 is celebrating the launch of his new enterprise, EGI, Golf, a company providing expert golf instruction at courses and facilities throughout Northern Virginia. After careers in both the U.S. Army and corporate public affairs, he began a professional career as a sales and operations manager with Golf Galaxy before branching off as a custom equipment fitter, swing analyst, private instructor and occasional competitor. "My mom always wanted me to play golf saying it would be good for business (It was). She'd be surprised to know it now is my business." Greg and his wife Wanda reside in Chantilly, VA; son Geoffrey (Fordham, '07) lives in nearby Herndon, VA.
