Walsh Jr, Edward

Edward Walsh '70, who retired from City of San Francisco service in Jan. 2009, went back to school to study math and science (his worst subjects in high school and college) toward a BS in Biology. He is also a commissioner/trustee of the Retiree Health Care Trust Fund, which funds medical care for retired City of San Francisco employees.

Ed Walsh '70 retired Jan. '09 from the City of San Francisco after 34 years and has gone back to school to study math, botany, and music. He also serves as Trustee of the Retiree Health Care Trust Fund for retired employees of the City of San Francisco.

Greg Rixon '70 is celebrating the launch of his new enterprise, EGI, Golf, a company providing expert golf instruction at courses and facilities throughout Northern Virginia. After careers in both the U.S. Army and corporate public affairs, he began a professional career as a sales and operations manager with Golf Galaxy before branching off as a custom equipment fitter, swing analyst, private instructor and occasional competitor. "My mom always wanted me to play golf saying it would be good for business (It was). She'd be surprised to know it now is my business." Greg and his wife Wanda reside in Chantilly, VA; son Geoffrey (Fordham, '07) lives in nearby Herndon, VA.

Ed Northup ’70 joined CooperVision as president of the Asia Pacific Region. He brings to the company extensive international and general management experience in the medical device industry.

Prior to CooperVision, he was senior vice president for Thoratec Corporation, and chief operating officer for Mentor Corporation, a Johnson & Johnson Company. He also held several global positions at Boston Scientific, including president of the international and pain management businesses, as well as commercial and operational roles with Baxter Healthcare.

Al Morici J.D. '70 has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation. It is the largest Hospice in the country, treating over 1,200 patients per day.

Hansel, Henry

Henry Hansel ’70 and son Justin Hansel ’96 oversee the largest group of car dealers in Sonoma County, a business with $288 million in sales last year. Henry Hansel is the son of the group’s founder, Walter C. Hansel, and is president of the Hansel Auto Group, which has four dealerships in Santa Rosa and three in Petaluma. Justin Hansel, one of two group general managers, is the fifth generation in the transportation business.

Randy '69 and Helene Trescony Frakes '70 celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this June. The were the first couple to be married in the Mission Church after a hiatus of 32 years. Randy and Helene live in San Francisco. They have 2 sons and 2 granddaughters.

Carolyn Antonini Cardinalli ’70, M.A. ’73 retired from teaching Spanish at Amador High School in Pleasanton, Calif., in July 2011. She and husband John live in Pleasanton. Both are retired, travelling and helping babysit two grandsons, John Daniel Cardinalli 3 1/2 years and Kevin Cardinalli 1 1/2 years.

Stoelker, James

James L. Stoelker '71, of Saratoga, was appointed to the Santa Clara County Superior Court by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Soelker has been a principal at Mount and Stoelker since 1988. Previously, he was a partner for Mount, Kraw and Stoelker in 1987, Eller, Burt and Stoelker from 1984 to 1987 and Garrison, Townsend and Orser from 1983 to 1984. Stoelker served as a staff litigation attorney for Western Title Insurance from 1976 to 1983 and an associate attorney for Atwood and Hurst from 1974 to 1975. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Santa Clara University.

Mary McQuade Schrey Springer '71, relocated to Eugene, Oregon in 2009 and has been instrumental in bringing the non-profit SecondSaturday to Eugene. One of the oldest non-profits in the United States, Second Saturday's mission is to keep divorcing women and their children out of poverty through education and support. Through her private psychotherapy practice she has also spearheaded a Grandparents Raising their Grandchildren Network and is on the Board of the Oregaon Association of Collaborative Professionals. She and her husband, Dean, also enjoy exploring Oregon backroads and her two granddaughters.

Charles J. Sprigman Jr., J.D. '71 has joined the Hoffman DiMuzio firm as Of Counsel. Following his graduation from Middlebury College in Vermont, Sprigman served two years as a line infantry officer in the U.S. Army, and then obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Santa Clara Law School in Santa Clara, Calif. He has practiced law in Gloucester County since 1971. During his professional career, Sprigman has served as a municipal solicitor, school board attorney, prosecutor, and municipal court judge throughout Gloucester County, N.J. He has also acted as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Civil Practice Committee, Committee on Civil Jury Charges and the District Ethics Committee. Sprigman has devoted time to his community as a councilman in the Borough of Wenonah, trustee of the Wenonah Swim Club and member of the Administrative Board of the Kemble Methodist Church. He and his wife of 44 years reside in Wenonah, N.J.
