John Stege '73 of Aptos, Calif., is the new Vice President and Broker for the Employee Benefits Division of Lawson-Hawks Insurance Associates.
Thomas L. Simpson '69, J.D. '73 is a lawyer and Certified Family Law Specialist with his own three-attorney firm in Glendale, Calif. He was recently elected President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Southern California Chapter. He resides in La Canada with his wife, Lili.
Joanna White Rydder '73 is a Regional Director of Funding for The Hunger Project, an international NGO, working in Africa, South Asia, and Latin America.
Paul Russell '73, MBA '82 was appointed senior vice president of engineering at ArrayPower, a Silicon Valley-based power electronics company.
Russell has more than 25 years of experience in technology development for companies in the solar, aerospace and defense industries. Prior, he served as senior vice president of engineering for concentrated photovoltaic solar systems provider Amonix. Additional experience includes multiple executive positions with Northrop Grumman and Space Systems/Loral, as well as systems engineering roles with Ford Aerospace.
Alvaro A. Reis M.B.A. '73 is retired, traveling, and participating in the OSHER Program at SCU as well as spending time at SCU events.
Risë Pichon ’73, J.D. ’76 was honored with the Santa Clara Law Social Justice and Human Rights Award in October 2011 in honor of her work for equality and human rights during her career.
Michael Pereira '73, retired NFL vice president of officiating, joins Fox Sports as a multi-platform NFL rules analyst. Before his retirement, Pereira did weekly reviews of controversial officiating calls for the NFL Network. It was one area where the NFL Network outshined the league's other broadcast partners. Pereira will be situated in a control room each Sunday at the Fox Network Center in Los Angeles, giving him visual access to all games played. If circumstances warrant a rules interpretation or explanation, he'll be available to interact with studio analysts and game crews from stadiums around the country, either on- or off-camera. A team of Los Angeles-area football referees, each assigned to a different game, will be assisting Pereira.
James Morrow MBA '66, Ph.D. '73 is chairman, president and CEO of Green Energy 1, Inc., a designer, developer, owner, and operator of waste to energy technology and solar plants for the generation of electricity and production of potable water worldwide.
Steven McCauley '73 is chair of the physics department at Cal Poly, Pomona.
John B. Maydonovitch M.A. '73, chief executive officer of San Jose-based MCE Inc., is receiving the Xavier University Founders' Day Award for 2011. Maydonovitch is a 1970 Xavier graduate and member of the University's Board of Trustees. He feels blessed to have had mentors throughout his academic and professional career, like his calculus professor at Xavier who encouraged him to pursue computer engineering and attend Silicon Valley-based Santa Clara University for graduate school in the early 1970s. Maydonovitch says his timing could not have been better as he got a foothold in the booming high-tech industry, spending 21 years in systems engineering and executive management positions with Hewlett-Packard Co. before following his passion to lead small high-tech companies.
Tom Lunceford '73 is teaching history at Washington High school in Fremont, Calif. He writes, "new roommate: CJ Lunceford, 86 years young!"
Richard Lim ’73 has been appointed by Hawaiian Governor-Elect Neil Abercrombie to serve in the Cabinet as the Director of the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism. Lim has over 25 years of banking and inverstment experience that he gained as a co-founder of the marchant banking firm Sennet Capital and a former president of City Bank. He has also been deeply involved in public bcommissions, including Island Insurance, Hawaii Technology Development Venture Board, and the Hawaii Institute for Pulbic Affairs.
Doug Langford '73 works as a dentist and rancher. He is a board member of Fairchild Medical Center, Madrone Hospice and the president of United Scholarships Inc. He also serves on the Siskiyou County Dental Task Force, which serves the indigent and uninsured children of the United States.
Dr. Thomas Kane ’73 writes: “Medical Director of the Queens Joint Center, Founder of the Kane Orthopedic Institute, still surfing in Hawaii after 26 years here.”
Clark "Gus" Guinan J.D. '73 has retired after 39 years practicing law, the last four years as the city attorney of Burlingame. Gus and his wife, Signe, live in Berkeley.

Russell W. Gill ’73 writes, "I owned and operated Russ' RV Service for 27 years in San Diego County, then moved to Kansas in 2010 for a change in scenery after my wife passed away with MS. In 2011 I was forced to retire after suffering a massive stroke and heart attack. Today I play darts for fun and money as well as support and work with several nonprofit charities, including the National MS Society, the Heart Association, and the American Stroke Foundation."

Dr. Kathleen Gerrity ’73 celebrated her 25th year of business ownership at the Boulder Creek Veterinary Clinic. Employees include her twin sons, Joey and Mario.
John Fox '73 writes: "I am a Foreign Service Officer for the US State Department, now on assignment to the US Army War College in Carlisle PA as a Professor of International Relations."
Carolyn Antonini Cardinalli ’70, M.A. ’73 retired from teaching Spanish at Amador High School in Pleasanton, Calif., in July 2011. She and husband John live in Pleasanton. Both are retired, travelling and helping babysit two grandsons, John Daniel Cardinalli 3 1/2 years and Kevin Cardinalli 1 1/2 years.

Larry Bogner '73, MBA '77 reports that he recently retired after more than 30 years as a civil engineer, the last 16 at Napa County's Public Works Department.
