Geraghty, Michael

Former Alaska Attorney General Michael Geraghty J.D. '78 has joined the law firm Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker LLP based in its Anchorage office. During his 36-year career, he has been involved in numerous complex cases, and has tried cases to verdict throughout Alaska, including Kenai, Barrow, Dillingham, Fairbanks and Anchorage. He has appeared before the Alaska Supreme Court in matters ranging from sovereign immunity, insurance bad faith, and administrative law, to attorney-client privilege, OSHA regulations, contract claims, shareholder disputes, products liability, and premises-landowner liability.

Geraghty served as Alaska’s Attorney General 2012-14; prior to his appointment, he was a partner in the Anchorage law firm DeLisio Moran Geraghty & Zobel PC, with a practice devoted exclusively to litigation and appeals before state and federal courts.

Wasson, Malia

Malia Wasson '81 has joined Columbia Sportswear's board of directors, effective March 19, 2015. Wasson served as the president of Oregon and Southwest Washington for the US Bank from 2005 to 2015, capping a banking industry career that spanned 33 years. As the president of US Bank, Wasson served as the senior executive in the region and led the US Bank Board in Portland. She also led the Oregon Commercial Banking group for U.S. Bank, which provides a wide variety of financial services to middle market companies. Prior to joining US Bank in 1989, Malia held various commercial lending positions with the former Oregon Bank and Security Pacific Bank of Oregon, according to a statement released by the company.

Wasson is a member of the board of directors of Northwest Natural Gas Company and serves as a board member of several civic organizations including Oregon Business Council, OHSU Foundation and OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, and American Leadership Forum, among others. A lifelong Oregonian, Wasson holds Bachelor of Science and Commerce degree in finance from Santa Clara University.

Rob Thomas ’81 has earned the title 2015 Santa Claran of the Year by the Alumni Association's Los Angeles chapter for his dedication to Catholic school education and for putting Santa Clara values into action every day. Thomas is the vice principal for Student Life at Notre Dame High School, in Sherman Oaks, California. He has been at the school for more than 30 years.

Okonek, Stephen

Stephen Okonek MBA '81 was elected vice president of Tansplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO). TRIO, whose main office is in the Washington, DC area, was founded in 1987 by renowned transplant pioneer and surgeon Thomas Starzl. Formerly, Steve was president of the San Francisco Bay chapter of the organization for eight years. Steve received his first liver transplant on Jan 1, 1993, at UCSF; he underwent a second liver transplant on April 4, 2001, at the same center. He lives in Half Moon Bay and works as a consultant/technical writer in energy technologies.

Joe McNab ’81 has earned the title 2015 Santa Claran of the Year by the Alumni Association's Los Angeles chapter for his dedication to Catholic school education and for putting Santa Clara values into action every day. McNab is the head track and field coach, and assistant football coach, at Notre Dame High School, in Sherman Oaks, California. He has also taught physical education, history, and religion there. The South San Francisco native has been at the school for more than 30 years.

Chris Meissner '82 was presented with the 2015 Business & Community Leader of Year Award by CSU Channel Islands for his contributions toward advancements in business, technology, educational collaboration, and the local economy. Meissner is founder and president of Meissner Filtration Products Inc. Established in 1989 and located in Camarillo, his company develops, manufactures, supplies, and services advanced microfiltration and single-use systems worldwide. Meissner also serves on several boards: Economic Development Collaborative/Ventura County, St. John’s Seminary, and the CSU Channel Islands Foundation.

PNNL is managed by Battelle for the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science. It has an annual budget of $1B and employs 4,300 staff who perform research in fundamental science, energy, environment, and national security.

James P. Cramer ’83, J.D. ’87 has been appointed a judgeship in the Alameda County Superior Court. The appointment was made by Gov. Jerry Brown '59. Cramer, 55, of Piedmont, has served as an assistant public defender at the Alameda County Public Defender’s Office since 2004. He served as supervising legal research attorney at the Alameda County Superior Court from 2000 to 2004 and was general counsel and project manager at McGuire and Hester from 1996 to 2000. Cramer was an attorney at Cramer  and Cramer (Robert '48 and Michael '78) from 1992 to 1996, after working as an associate in law firms between 1989 and 1992 and as a deputy district attorney at the Alameda County District Attorney's office from 1987 to 1989.

Charlotte Hart ’85 got married in January of 2014, and in September moved back to hometown Long Beach, California after 10 years in Scottsdale, Arizona. With three kids in college now, she and her new husband, Marshall Waller, live together and no longer comute 800 miles a week! When not working on their home remodel or charitable caues, Charlotte consults part-time as a marketing strategist specializing in business development. As the reunion nears, she is exhorting classmates and all alumni to bolster SCU's endowment. Examining her alma mater's giving statistics compared to the colleges her kids were accepted to (comprable size schools) was eye-opening, so she joined the reunion committee to spread the word!
