Jeremiah "Jerry" G. Hickey II celebrated his 90th birthday on Aug. 28, 2002. He served four years in the Navy during WWII and retired from Hickey Freeman Co. He now lives in Sun City West, Ariz. with his wife, Mary Catherine. He is still very active as a Eucharistic minister, member of a choir, and writing articles for four local newspapers. Jerry was editor of the student newspaper while at SCU. Jerry and Mary Catherine have five children.

Peter J. Coniglio received an award for his community service from the Italian Heritage Society on Oct. 19, 2002. The master of ceremonies at the tribute dinner was Leon Panetta '60, J.D. '63. Peter is an attorney and former mayor of Monterey. He was also a member of the SCU Board of Regents and has served on many boards over the last 45 years. He has six daughters, four of whom graduated from SCU, and 12 grandchildren.

Dr. John R. Reynolds was recently honored at the 25th anniversary of the Burn Unit of Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. Dr. Reynolds was the founder of the unit, which has treated more than 3,700 burns since its inception.

Tim Smith was named president of the American Import Automotive Dealership Association in a ceremony on Feb. 3.

John Shean was recently appointed by San Diego Bishop Robert Brom to a five-year term on the Diocesan Review Board. The board will advise and counsel Bishop Brom about cases in which the clergy is accused of abuse, and will monitor the diocese's policies. Shean also serves on the Board of Directors of the St. Vincent dePaul Villages, which served more than 1.5 million meals to the homeless last year in San Diego County.

Patrick Hall was elected chair of the San Quentin Advisory Council for KAIROS Prison Ministry for 2003-04, and selected president of the Pacifica Rotary Club for 2004-05.

Robert Dondero was elected by his colleagues as the new assistant presiding judge of the San Francisco Superior Court in November 2002. Judge Dondero was previously a San Francisco prosecutor, an assistant U.S. attorney, a judge appointed by Gov. Pete Wilson, and taught criminal law at San Francisco Law School. Richard and Therese McInnis Pedemonte are the co-owners of Pedemonte & Co. Event Services. They produce major public events throughout Northern California. They have two grown children and split their time between homes in Fairfax and Bolinas.

Marie (Mackey) Huhtala has worked her entire career with the State Department and recently became the U.S. ambassador to Malaysia. She and her husband, Eino Huhtala, an accomplished photographer, have traveled the globe and raised a family together.

Regina Visger (Mahan) has been named principal of St. Justin's Elementary School in Santa Clara. Patrick Sennello married Deborah Kay on July 20, 2002 in Lafayette. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in London and Ireland.

Andy Gonzales works at the NASA/Ames Research Center where he is the project manager of the Kitty Hawk 3 Mars airplane project. Andy lives in Sunnyvale with his wife, Dawn, a pediatric intensive care nurse, and son, Greg, who just graduated from Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose. Kathie Sheehy was recently named director of development and public relations of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Santa Clara County. Kathie recently served for six years on the board of directors for Sacred Heart Community Service in San Jose. She and husband, Mike Sheehy, have three children.

Tom Petit recently earned an MBA from Pepperdine University and is the senior vice president of global business development and strategic partnerships for Vivendi Universal Games, an entertainment software division of Vivendi Universal in Los Angeles. Tom lives in Manhattan Beach.

Peggy Kelly-Sung and her husband, Harvard, announce the birth of their first child, Lauren Elana, on June 12, 2002. Peggy is a real estate portfolio manager in Palo Alto. G. Scott McCormack is the senior vice president of Phoenix-based Grossman Company Properties, a real estate investment development company. He continues to be a director on the board of commercial real estate firm, CB Richard Ellis Hawaii Inc.

Steven Kahl was awarded teacher of the year honors in November 2002 by the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce. Steven is an English teacher at Mountain View High School. He has won many other awards for teaching and has been recognized as a mentor. Patrick J. Moran is the first vice president for Ziegler Investments Services Group. He and his wife, Kelly, announced the birth of a daughter, Kelly Frances, on March 7. The baby joins brothers L.T. and Simon, and sister Kate Frances, at the family's Paradise Valley, Ariz. Home.

Laura Grimes and her husband, Matthew Honkanen, celebrated the birth of their third child, Katherine Rose Grimes, on Jan. 17. Jennifer (McWard) Maguire MBA '94 and her husband, Brian, welcomed a daughter, Taylor Louise, on Sept. 30, 2002. Taylor joins big brother, Trevor, 5. Jennifer is the assistant budget director for the City of San Jose, where she has worked for more than 11 years. The family lives in San Jose.

Veronica Guerrero MBA '96 and Richard Wildanger welcomed their first daughter, Olivia Victoria, on Dec. 6, 2002. The family lives in San Jose. Sue (Kozlak) and Toby Richards welcomed the birth of Jack Nolan on Sept. 13, 2002. Jack joins big brothers Will, 7, and Riley, 5, in their home in Bellevue, Wash. Toby works as a marketing director at Microsoft.

Scott Bond and his wife, Becky, are the proud parents of twin boys, Liam and Evan, who were born on Jan. 21. Becky works for Placer County Public Works as a civil engineer on water quality improvement for Lake Tahoe. Scott works at Formica as a manufacturing project engineer. The family lives in Auburn. Michelle Meade married Dominic Camara on Dec. 28, 2002 in San Diego. Michelle and Dominic are both teachers and live in the San Diego suburb of Ocean Beach. Jack Vollert is a mentor at Friends of the Children, a group of 36 mentors who help at-risk children in Portland, Ore. Vollert is a former Jesuit volunteer, and has also worked with the homeless.

Brian Borgia and his wife celebrated the birth of twin daughters, Brooke and Olivia, on March 26, 2002. Brian's business, Monterey Peninsula Reservations LLC, was presented the Business Award of Excellence in March by the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce. Hendy Lund is the principal instructor/ course developer at NetScreen Technologies in Sunnyvale. Julia (Roberts) Lynne and Hunter Lynne welcomed their first child, Dorothy Marie, on Jan. 24. The family lives in San Diego.

Robert Chan married Jamie Murakami at Mission Santa Clara on Oct. 5, 2002. David Dawson and his wife, Christina, celebrated the birth of a daughter, Kendall Victoria, on Feb. 4. The family lives in Santa Barbara. Gerry del Rosario married Claudia Kim '94 in Seattle on Sept. 7, 2002. The couple lives in Washington, D.C. Michelle (Woomert) Latray J.D. '94 and her husband, Steve, welcomed their third son, Brant Cash, on Nov. 4, 2002. Brant joins big brothers, Bryce Calvin, 7, and Brody Austin, 3, in their home in Groesbeck, Tex., where Michelle maintains a small private legal practice.

Jennifer C. Dunn married Timothy R. Buhrfiend on July 27, 2002 in Chicago. Jennifer finished her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center and has settled into a private practice in Chicago. Patricia Goedde had a baby, Bia Nam, on Oct. 7, 2001. Patricia is pursuing a graduate degree. Andrea (Scroggin) Pezoldt and her husband, Brad, welcomed their second child, Max Jacob, on Jan. 6. Big sister Jenna is 2. Andrea and Brad are both doctors. Michael Raguse has a 2-year-old son, James.

Maureen Cosgrove married Drew Sullivan on Oct. 25, 2002 in Washington, D.C. Maureen works as an editor at Slate Magazine and Drew is the managing editor of Nationaljournal.com. The couple lives in Washington, D.C. Lori (Maulhardt) and Francisco "Pancho" Jimenez welcomed their second son, Dario Manuel, on Oct. 28, 2002. Big brother Carlo is 2. Lori is a sales director at Mercury Interactive and Pancho teaches in the Art Department at SCU. The family lives in Campbell. Brendan Lund married Amie McMullin in Seattle on Sept. 14, 2002. The wedding party included best man John Torrey and groomsmen Pat Clancy, Bill Mason, and Greg Matz. Brendan's cousin, Juliette (Lindner) Torrey, could not attend as she was about to give birth to his goddaughter, Julia Constance. Brendan is a tax attorney in Seattle with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Amie is a social worker. Carolyn (Adams) Nicholson and her husband, Don, welcomed their second child, Sophia Claire, on Oct. 26, 2002. Sophia's big brother, David, is 3. The family lives in Scotts Valley, where Carolyn works part-time from home doing marketing research, and Don is a project manager at Cisco Systems, Inc. Nicole Rabaud earned her Ph.D. in agricultural and environmental chemistry from the University of California, Davis. She is now serving as an executive fellow in the Office of Governor Gray Davis, Office of Planning and Research. Michael Strain and his wife, Anna, announce the birth of their daughter, Annika Kelly, on Nov. 14, 2002. Patricia Sullivan and her partner, Cindy Wunder, celebrated the adoption of a daughter, Hailey Lynne, on Jan. 24. Hailey is 2 years old. The family lives in Davis, where Tricia is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at the University of California, Davis and Cindy is a student affairs officer with the Early Academic Outreach program for the university. Christine Filice-Tuma and her husband, Kerry, celebrated the birth of their second daughter, Isabelle Christine, in August, 2002. Their oldest daughter, Noelle, is 2, and Christine stays at home with the girls. Kerry is an insurance broker for Hamilton Meridian Insurance in San Jose. The family lives in Pleasanton, but plans to move to San Ramon this July.

David and Shannon (Willette) Hanel welcomed a baby boy, Derek William, on May 31, 2002. David is a captain for Skywest Airlines and Shannon is a sales representative for a software company. The family lives in San Jose. Jason and Amy Sue (Andrews) Lombardi welcomed their first child, Samantha Brooke, on June 17, 2002. Anneliese (Leasure) and Michael Olson '93 welcomed their second child, Sophia Cobb, on May 23, 2002. The family reports that her big brother, Grady, was very excited to meet her. The family lives in Boise, Idaho, where Anneliese is a product marketing manager for Hewlett Packard and Michael is a business development manager for Intermountain Technology Group.

David Banmiller and his wife, Amy, welcomed their first child, David A. Banmiller III, on Dec. 12, 2002. Brooks McMahon and his wife, Kelly, welcomed the birth of a son, Thomas Christopher, on Dec. 3, 2002. Tommy joins big brother, Jake, at home in Seattle, where Brooks works in the strategy group at Corbis Corporation. Shane Paquette was recently featured among the 70 top travel agents in the September issue of Travel and Leisure magazine, cited as an expert in skiing vacations. He has skied throughout North America, Europe, South America, and New Zealand, and is the manager of En Route Travel, founded by his mother, Carole, in 1984. Piper (McClain) Pluckhan and her husband, Brad, announce the birth of their son, Logan Bradley, born on Nov. 17, 2002. Murphy Angelo Sabatino III MBA '99 married Jennifer Lynne Campisi on Nov. 23, 2002 at Mission Santa Clara. The couple lives in San Jose. Fred Tovar was elected to the San Jose/Evergreen Community College Board of Trustees in December 2002. He works as the outreach and recruitment coordinator at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he focuses on the recruitment and retention of traditionally underrepresented students interested in becoming physicians.

Matt Hansink married Holly Geringer at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Oct. 13, 2001. They live in Seattle. William "Rocky" McDonald married Carol Moran in Saratoga on Nov. 2, 2002. The wedding party included groomsmen Craig Hamm, Mark Janczura, and Chris McDonald '87. Rocky and Carol live in the San Diego area. Phil and Susan (Rostad) Von Buchwaldt welcomed a son, Aidan Arthur, on Dec. 23, 2002. The family lives in Santa Clara, and Phil is an analyst for Comerica Bank in San Jose.

Don and Angelena (Sanfilippo) Paxton celebrated the birth of their daughter, Graciana Olivia, on Aug. 15, 2002. She was recently baptized at St. Clare Church in Santa Clara. Don is a manager with Maxim Integrated products in Sunnyvale, and Angelena has taken leave from her teaching position to start her business, La Petite Dame, and to stay at home with her daughter. Lori Rabbiosi-Miller and her husband, Jason, announce the birth of their first baby, Jacob Anthony, on Feb. 13. Mike Silva married Traci Giordano '00 on March 1 on a yacht off Maui, Hawaii. Brett Tijanich and his wife, Karen, announce the birth of their son, John Paul, on Aug. 29, 2002.

Shana Brown recently joined Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP in San Diego in the firm's Business and Technology Group. Shana graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law and was the editor of the San Diego Law Review. Kathryn Harrison married Hans Woicke on July 27, 2002 in Yamhill, Ore. The couple spent their honeymoon climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and touring the Serengeti in Africa. They live in San Francisco, where Kathryn is a history teacher for St. Ignatius College Preparatory School.

Cory Costanzo married Melissa Gregory '00 at the Mission Church on Dec. 21, 2002. Cory is in an orthodontic residency program in San Francisco and Melissa is an engineer in Santa Clara. The couple lives in San Mateo. Kelly Crowley won a silver medal and two bronze medals at the International Paralympic Committee's Swimming World Championships in Argentina in December 2002. She also set two more American records. More than 900 swimmers with physical disabilities from 64 countries competed. In June 2002, Kelly won eight medals and set five American records at the National Disability Championships. Justin Hintzen, Apache Longbow Attack Helicopter platoon leader, was recently promoted to captain and deployed with the 101st Airborne Division in support of operations overseas. He asks for his fellow alumni's prayers for the success of the troops and their safe return. Yumi Yamagiwa has relocated to Singapore on a two-year international assignment with Duty Free Shoppers Group Limited.
