Schiavone Hannibal, Angela (Schiavone)

Angela Schiavone ’07 married her longtime love, James Hannibal, at the Rengstorff House in Mountain View on Oct. 18, 2014. They were surrounded by friends and family under clear blue skies. Her and her husband run a wedding photography business, ShootAnyAngle (http://shootanyangle.com/weddings/), so they trained their own side shooters to handle the wedding pictures. There were a lot of special touches for the day: there were "Hidden Mickey Mouses" around the ceremony and reception, the bride's bouquet included trinkets from family members who had passed, the groom wore a wooden bowtie in memory of his grandfather who had passed, there were antique books and cameras to showcase their passions, the cake stand was made by the Father of the Bride, the Father Daughter dance was a recording of the bride singing, and the bride's shoes contained around 1,000 Swarovski crystals that she had attached by hand. It was a perfect day! Maren Lovgren ’06 and Hayley Lovgren ’08 served as bridesmaids (and they are the groom's cousins)!

Hatzke, Matt

Matt Hatzke '07, former San Jose Earthquakes soccer player, recently wrote an editorial for Outsports. "My life hasn't been the same," he writes, since coming out to family and friends in 2013, "as I have found happiness like I couldn't understand before. I finally felt my life finding completion...I finally felt comfortable in my own skin."

Matt was acquired by the Earthquakes in 2008 after first being drafted by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the fourth round of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft and being traded. Prior to his professional career, he was a 2006 and 2007 All-West Coast Conference selection for Santa Clara University, playing 81 games in his four years in school.

Matt now practices dentistry with his parents in San Jose and is in a happy relationship.

"While my playing days are behind me--I do venture onto the pitch for Santa Clara alumni games--I know I can still contribute to the beautiful game in other ways," he writes, hoping to be role model for other young athletes.
