Matthew Klenz ’05 and his wife, Caitlin, welcomed a baby girl, Sophia Louise Klenz, on Dec. 6, 2011.
Nick Johnson '05 married Amy Lake on May 15, 2010 in Napa, Calif. Nick recently graduated from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and is now a resident physician in Emergency Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Amy is a graduate student in the Physician Assistant program at Arcadia University in Glenside, Penn. They reside in Philadelphia.

Brian Hurd '05 graduated from Colorado State University this year with a P.hD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. He is enjoying his job as a Training Account Manager at Intel in Folsom, CA.

Daisy Huang M.S. ’05 writes, "Greetings from Fairbanks, Alaska! March is almost drawing to a close, but I am watching snow fall outside my window. I have just completed my PhD in mechanical engineering and applied physics. Best wishes to the Bronco family! I am attaching a photo of a yearling moose that has just destroyed my bird feeder."
Patrick Grenter ’05 was named executive director of the Center for Coalfield Justice in Washington, Pa. He is leading that organization’s fight to protect citizens from the harmful effects of coal mining and natural gas extraction in southwestern Pennsylvania. Patrick receievd his B.S. in poltical science from SCU and his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He lives in Pittsburgh with his wife, Olivia, and dog, Boone.
Justas Geringson J.D. ’05 has joined Novak Druce + Quigg LLP as senior associate to its San Francisco office. Geringson joins from Fliesler Meyer LLP. Geringson’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, reexaminations, litigation support, contracts, opinions, licensing, and counseling clients in the fields of mechanical devices, computer software, and business methods. He holds a J.D. from the Santa Clara University School of Law and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of California at Riverside. Novak Druce + Quigg LLP is a national law firm focused exclusively on complex intellectual property matters.
Rebecca (Regan) Freeman '05 and Peter Freeman were married in Golden, Colo., on Sept. 22, 2012.
Cristina (Guzman) Fierro '05 and Mark Fierro '05 welcomed their first child, Emma Rosalinda Fierro, on August 15, 2010. She weighed 5lb 14oz and 21in long. The family resides in St. Louis, MO where Mark is a 2nd year resident physician in OB/GYN and Cristina is a Registered Nurse.
Cristina (Guzman) Fierro '05 and Mark Fierro '05 welcomed their second child, Mark Enrique Fierro, on February 5, 2012. He weighed 6lb 2oz and was 18.5 inches long. The family resides in St. Louis, where Mark is a fourth year resident in OB/GYN. Cristina is a registered nurse and a recent DAISY Award recipient.
Cristina (Guzman) Fierro ’05 and Mark Fierro ’05 welcomed their third child, Rafael Antonio Fierro, on October 24, 2013. He weighed 6lb 13.5oz and was 19 inches long. The family resides in San Jose. Mark is an OB/GYN working in private practice in Los Gatos.
Jennifer Ernst MBA ’05 joined the governing board of FlexTech Alliance, a company focused on developing the electronic display and flexible, printed electronics industry supply chains.
Jennifer Ernst is currently vice president of North America for ThinFilm Electronics, a supplier of printed non-volatile and flexible memory products. She works closely with clients and partners to fulfill the vision of fully integrated systems created by printed electronics.
Prior to joining ThinFilm, Ernst was director of business development for PARC, a Xerox company, where she had more than 20 years’ experience in technology innovation. As a key player in helping establish PARC's open business model, she expanded PARC's impact into multiple new industries and secured licensing and co-development relationships with companies throughout the U.S., Asia, and Europe. She holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and BA from San Francisco State University.
Emily Elrod ’05, MA ’14 and Rene Cardenas ’04 on July 9, 2011 at Santa Catalina School in Monterey. They were married by English professor Theodore Rynes, S.J. Alumni in attendance included maid of honor Lisa Catalano ’08, matron of honor Diana (DeRego) Wells ’03, bridesmaid Elizabeth Foley ’06, groomsman Marshall Mort ’05, and parents of the bride Lawrence Elrod ’71, MBA ’77 and Annette Elrod ’73. Additional Broncos in attendance were the bride's godparents James Foley ’68, MSCE ’70 and Susie Foley ’70; Gina Catalano ’10; Phil Catalano ’73, MBA ’75; Dennis Garvey ’75; Alexandria Kavalaris ’07, JD ’10; Anahita Razmazma ’05; Claire (Romero) Shaw ’05, MA ’11; Arun Delacroix ’09; and Ken Wells ’05, MSEE ’07. SCU faculty and staff who attended include Terry Beers, Russ Morris, and former staff Lisa Taggart. Emily recently completed a graduate degree in history and is in SCU’s MATTC program. Rene received his MBA and works in finance. The newlyweds make their home in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose.
Aloe Driscoll '05 was hired as a marketing coordinator at Awe Sum in Santa Cruz. Prior she worked in the sales and marketing department for Nanosolar in San Jose. This is her first job in the produce industry.
Courtney (Dimpel) Shipman ’05 is one of the newest members of the women’s racing team Vanderkitten-Focus. This famous international bicycle racing team showed up at Aptos High School in March with women from New Zealand, Australia, the East Coast, and the Bay Area. They have 25 members of the team representing them worldwide. The Vanderkitten-Focus claim to fame is not only their stamina and racing skills, but their popular line of sportswear. Cycling is one of several successful sports programs at Aptos High available to the students. This women’s pro racing team demonstrated to students that bike racing is not just for boys.
Konstantine Demiris J.D. '05 and Christopher Moore J.D. '06 recently formed Demiris & Moore. They specialize in conservatorship and guardianship matters, estate planning, trust and probate litigation, elder abuse, and appeals. Both partners are also court appointed as counsel in conservatorships by the State of California, Superior Court of Contra Costa County. The firm is located in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek, Calif., and handles cases throughout the Bay Area and California.
Chris ’05 and Megan (Koppes) DeMartini ’05 welcomed future Bronco, Abigail Maryann, on Oct. 11, 2011.
Leslie Davidson ’05 writes, "We're leaving the beautiful Bay Area and moving to Boise, Ida.—also beautiful in different ways. I plan to start a private practice there and may run some groups at the VA Hospital. I was fortunate to gain such a solid foundation for my new career as an MFT from SCU's Counseling Psych program. Thanks to all who made that possible."
Kelly Cowan J.D. ’05 joined Denver-based defense firm Grund-Dagner P.C. as an associate attorney.
Cowan’s principal areas of practice at Grund-Dagner are professional liability, recreational law, transportation law, and construction litigation. Prior, Cowan worked with Sinunu Bruni, LLP, in San Francisco, where she focused on product liability/toxic tort and personal-injury defense, and at Ray Bourhis & Associates, also in San Francisco, where she concentrated on insurance-coverage work.
