John Braverman, S.J.

Visiting Research Associate at the Center for Science, Technology, and Society

John Braverman grew up in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. He has a doctorate from U.C. Davis, where he specialized in evolutionary biology. He also holds an M.A. in Health Care Ethics and the Master of Divinity (M.Div.). John's home in the Jesuits is the Maryland Province. During his time at Santa Clara, he is writing a thesis for a graduate degree in theology (the Licentiate in Sacred Theology). His subject: the dialogue between science and religion (theology). He is enrolled as a graduate student in the Jesuit School of Theology (JST), which became a part of Santa Clara University in 2009. His academic home on campus is the Center for Science, Technology, and Society on the Santa Clara campus. John lives in the da Vinci Residential Learning Community, serving as a Resident Minister. John promotes sustainability any chance he gets, be it in the Bay Area, in his travels to Mexico, or just through sharing his wildlife photography and bird observations.
