Andrew J. Garavel, S.J.

Assistant Professor, Department of English

Andrew J. Garavel, S.J., joined Santa Clara's English department in 2005. His specialties include British and Irish literature of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Irish writing and history, and literary uses of place.

After his undergraduate education at Fairfield University in Connecticut, Professor Garavel studied philosophy at Loyola University in Chicago, earned a master's degree in English at the University of Chicago, taught at Fairfield College Preparatory School, and went on to theological studies at Regis College, University of Toronto. He received his Ph.D. from New York University and has been an adjunct instructor at Fairfield and Sacred Heart Universities.
