Carl H. Hayn, S.J.
Professor Emeritus, Department of Physics
Father Hayn began teaching at Santa Clara University in 1955. A professor emeritus, he has served as president of the Northern California/Nevada section of the American Association of Physics Teachers and continues to publish scholarly articles in journals such as the American Journal of Physics and Physics Teacher.
Father Hayn earned his Ph.D. from St. Louis University, where he worked in experimental solid state physics. He received B.S. and M.A. degrees in philosophy from Gonzaga University, and an STL degree from Alma College.
After graduate school, Father Hayn spent time as a postdoctoral student at the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies and pursued further studies in nuclear physics at Washington State University.
