Arthur F. Liebscher, S.J.
Associate Professor, Department of History

History Professor Art Liebscher's areas of focus are in Latin American history, particularly Argentina and party-based democracy there during the early 20th century, Santa Fe Province and the cities of Santa Fe and Rosario, and the social and ecclesiastical history of Cordoba. He has lived in several cities in Argentina, conducting research and serving as a priest there.
Professor Liebscher earned doctoral and master degrees at Indiana University, an STM and a master's of divinity at the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkekey, and a bachelor's at Santa Clara University.
For more than twenty years, Fr. Liebscher has lived with freshman and sophomores in the residence halls, where he has served as resident minister, faculty adviser, and now "Jesuit faculty in residence." He has long experience advising student organizations, and he is a standing member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
