At a glance:

Ashkon Jafari '08 found that SCU's concept of the "Three C's" were really instilled in him for years to come.

During his senior year at SCU, Ashkon Jafari '08, began volunteering for Making a Difference for Good USA.

What he would not predict was that what started as a hobby would turn into a career.

Jafari co-founded a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization aimed at helping poverty-stricken areas of Cambodia to gain access to necessities such as decent healthcare and education. In less than three years, Jafari and his partners have refurbished 14 water pumps, dispensed 3,200 tablets to children to prevent intestinal parasites, donated 500 books, provided 150 schoolchildren with uniforms, and enabled 500 children to be checked for head lice.

Last February, Jafari's organization was awarded a Google Grant that will provide $120,000 in advertising services per year which will help the organization expand and raise donations.

Jafari found his years at Santa Clara to be inspiring, "I attribute much of my passion for social causes to my SCU experience. The SCU mission of social consciousness permeated through all facets of SCU, from industry talks on climate change to evaluating Wal-Mart's business practices in my Business Ethics course."
