Jack Locke '65 works for the Necessities of Life Program of AIDS Project Los Angeles.
At a warehouse in North Hollywood, Locke prepares bags of groceries and other necessities such as toiletries and cleaning supplies for the clients, all of whom are poor and have AIDS. He helps to distribute supplies at four NOLP locations and five cooperating agencies. Each week, Locke spends about six hours preparing and two hours distributing the groceries to clients at the North Hollywood location.
Greeting each client, giving them their groceries and offering help to carry them out is what touches his heart. Locke writes, "Of course we all give to those in need, but doing it through personal contact is the best way to help. I get to know most of the clients and we share our stories."
