Learning on stage and behind the scenes

Hilary Tarver '08

B.A. theatre and dance

Santa Clara gave Hilary Tarver a comprehensive view of the theatre world. As a major in the theatre and dance department, she was involved in every stage of productions, from leading roles to behind the scenes.

“I’ve done such a myriad of things at Santa Clara. Design work, dancing, special events. I’ve traveled with my teachers to see shows. I was impressed with the range of theatre experiences I had in the department,” she says.

The recipient of SCU’s William H. Leahy prize for her contribution to the dramatic arts, Tarver starred as the Marquise de Merteuil in the winter 2008 production of “Les Liaisons Dangereuses.” She plans to use skills gained at SCU for graduate work in costume design or acting.
