First Day of School; What do I Bring!?

Your child needs the following at KOC (clearly labeled with name):

  • Complete change of clothes (including underwear, socks, and shoes)
  • Sheet to cover a 46" x 23" mat (full-size crib sheet works fine!)
  • Blanket and small pillow (with a cover that can be washed)

You are responsible for cleaning these as necessary - bedding is taken home by parents on Friday and returned on Monday.

Nutrition

If your child will be at KOC through the lunch period, please send a nutritious lunch in a lunchbox clearly labeled with your child's name. Examples of typical items are sandwiches, fruit, crackers, cheese, soup in a thermos, microwaveable foods, etc. Milk is provided by KOC, please do not send juice boxes in your child's lunch.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND CANDY OR GUM TO SCHOOL!

Lunch is a time for sharing and learning social skills -- please feel free to join us for lunch anytime!

Do not leave medicine or vitamins in your child's lunch box! (see Medication)

Breakfast foods are allowed prior to 8:45 a.m., if brought to school ready to eat or prepared by parents at KOC. Please bring breakfast milk from home. We keep just enough milk on hand to serve at lunch.

Kids on Campus provides nutritious morning and afternoon snacks. Juice is provided with each snack. The snack schedule is posted in each classroom.

Sharing Toys

With the exception of special "sharing" toys and/or "napping buddies," do NOT send toys to school with your child. They may be lost or broken and sometimes they can be the source of disputes. Each child is assigned a special sharing day during the week. On sharing days please bring the toy in a bag labeled with your child's name. This will allow the "share item" to be a surprise and will help the toy to return home.

Appropriate School Attire

Children should be dressed in comfortable play clothing that they can easily remove without help (age appropriate zippers, large buttons, elastic waists, velcro, etc.) A child's self esteem is greatly enhanced by the independence involved in changing his/her own shoes/clothes. High-top shoes, overalls and belts, for example, are often difficult for young children to take off and on. For safety's sake we ask that no thongs or slippers be worn to school.
