Post your site

Post Your Website or Get Your Web Site or Files

Once your web site is done and you have checked your links, you are ready to Put Put Button your website up.

 

Post your site for the first time

  • Click on your local root folder to select it.

  • Click on the Put button
  • Say yes when asked if you want to put the entire site up.

When you post your site to the web you will have a copy on your local computer as well as on the web.

Update a file or add a new file

If you have already posted your site to the web server and now want to post a file that has been changed or added to your site:

  • Click on the file or files you want to upload to the server
  • Click on the Put Put button button
  • Say yes when asked whether you want to include dependent files.Make sure everything is correct.

Changing from the local to the remote view.

It is possible to change your view from your local computer to the remote computer. This will automatically let you see what is on the "remote server."

Get Your Website

If you want to download your website to a computer:

  • Create a folder on your local computer that will hold the web site you are going to download.
  • Click on the connect buttonbutton to connect. Notice the button changes to the connected state connected state button as Dreamweaver connects to the server and once the connection is established, the view changes to remote view.
  • In the remote view, click on web site folder.
  • Click on the Get get files button button
  • The entire site will be downloaded to your computer.

Get a file from the web

  • Create a folder on your local computer that will hold the file you are going to download and its dependent files.
  • Click on the button to connect. Notice the button changes to the connected state as Dreamweaver connects to the server and once the connection is established, the view changes to remote view.
  • In the remote view, click on the file you want to download
  • Click on the Get button
