Invest in a Woman. Invest in the Future. Solar Sister creates opportunities for women in Uganda to overcome energy poverty and create a better future for themselves and their families. At its core, Solar Sister is about women understanding their own worth and acting on it.

25% of the world's population lives in energy poverty. 70% are women and girls living in the developing world. The energy that is happening in Uganda is leapfrogging the United States - with Solar Sister's focus on distributed power, increase adoption may prove an electrical grid obsolete. Solar Sister operates on the power of the synthesis of women and technology to bring "Light, Hope, and Opportunity" to the under-electrified

Frugally designed Solar Portable Lanterns are a technology to meet a global need and Last-Mile Distribution of the paramount method of dissemination. Solar Sister not only trains their sales force, but also provides training for after-sales service and maintenance to avoid market spoilage.
