Overview

Over the years, eBay Foundation has made investments toward a vision of all people being able to participate fully in the global economy. eBay Foundation is committed to providing economic opportunity all around the world and is now enabling social entrepreneurs who share that passion to benefit from mentored capacity development offered through Santa Clara University's Global Social Benefit Institute.

The Global Social Benefit Institute (GSBI®) and eBay Foundation are partnering to scale the impact of high-potential social entrepreneurs in three ways. First, eBay is sponsoring the participation of select social entrepreneurs in GSBI programs: Esoko, Digital Divide Data, Avani, Drishtee Development and Communication Ltd., Juhudi Kilimo and Kinara Capital. Second, eBay Foundation is funding a customized GSBI Online cohort, focusing on social entrepreneurs with impact in Brazil, India, China, and Russia (BRIC) and the United States. Third, eBay Foundation and the GSBI are pioneering a two-day Boost Camp for Bay Area social entrepreneurs.

eBay Foundation and the GSBI invite social entrepreneurs providing economic opportunity in vulnerable communities around the world to learn more about these programs and to get involved. Email gsbi@scu.edu for more information

GSBI Accelerator

The GSBI Accelerator prepares social enterprises for growing impact and securing capital investments.  Over the course of 10 months, social entrepreneurs, like Esoko and Digital Data Divide, work alongside Silicon Valley mentors to complete online modules, which refine their business models and identify the growth opportunities. For 9 days in August, social entrepreneurs from around the world come to Santa Clara University during the in-residence. Content experts teach a customized curriculum to address a financing plan for scaling, organizational development, talent management, marketing strategy and execution, and operational excellence at scale. The in-residence culminates in a pitch to a room full of impact investors. The end goal is to prepare the social entrepreneur to be investment ready and prepare to scale their impact.
