Award Notification & Acceptance
|
An award document may be a grant document, a two-party contract, or a letter of acceptance. The document should indicate the dollar amount, the period of performance, the rules and regulations that govern the expenditure of funds (these are often incorporated by reference), and any other information necessary to identify the project. Since sponsored projects are awarded to the University, the award document usually is sent to the Sponsored Projects Office. In case this does not happen and it is sent to the principal investigator, it immediately should be forwarded to SPO so that the document can be reviewed, any needed changes negotiated and the award accepted. No charges may be incurred against a sponsored project until SPO has received and processed an original award notification from the sponsor, and a fund account number has been issued. |
