Javier Elguea is currently President of Instituto Tecnológico de Teléfonos de México (INTTELMEX) and a visiting scientist at MIT's Media Lab. His research and professional interests include economic, social, and technological aspects of international development. Dr. Elguea has two masters degrees and a Ph.D. from Stanford University; his BA is from Anáhuac University. Dr. Elguea has held visiting faculty positions at Stanford, Harvard, Santa Clara University's Center for Science, Technology and Society, and received tenure at the Center for Sociological Studies, El Colegio de México. He also held a MacArthur Fellowship. In the corporate world, Dr. Elguea has served as Vice President for Human Resources for both Grupo CARSO and Teléfonos de México (Telmex). He is the author of three books on international development.
