The Silicon Valley Challenge Summit is a call to action. It is based on the observation that with the region's great resources come great responsibilities. Furthermore, while the Silicon Valley community has begun to work for global development it does not have in place good models for engagement. On the other hand, major international organizations like the United Nations and the World Bank have a general idea about what is needed, but not a close understanding of the Silicon Valley context. To bridge this gap, this one-day Summit will feature thought-provoking panel discussions and interactive workshops by Silicon Valley leaders from various sectors. Together with these leaders, Summit attendees will work towards an actionable agenda that addresses the challenge set forth by the United Nations in its Millennium Development Goals: to focus attention and resource on ways in which information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can be harnessed for global development. The discussion will be guided by the following key questions:

What is Silicon Valley doing? How can we do it? What else can Silicon Valley fo?
