The Center for Science, Technology, and Society invites applications from social benefit entrepreneurs who are developing or applying appropriate technology solutions to meet urgent human needs wherever they exist in our world. In order for the program to be optimally successful, an application process is used to select the most suitable participants each year.

Applications from the following sources are considered:
  1. Candidates who have been identified through well-recognized sources including the Tech Museum Award Laureates, the Global Junior Challenge, and the World Bank Development Marketplace, or
  2. Candidates who are recommended as proven or promising social benefit entrepreneurs by respected peer nominators, including such widely respected organizations as Skoll Foundation, International Finance Corp., Schwab Foundation, and Ashoka.
