Public Programs and PartnershipsThe Center for Science, Technology, and Society promotes the common good of an increasingly technological society by providing an independent forum for public dialogue and interdisciplinary inquiry into the social and cultural dimensions of scientific and technological change. The Center achieves this goal by hosting a symposia series throughout the academic year and offering a major conference every other year, all of which are open to the public. The Global Social Benefit Incubator is a new Center endeavor that provides technology entrepreneurs with a two-week institute in business planning and development skills, supported by leaders in Silicon Valley’s high-tech industry. In addition, the Center reaches beyond the University and initiates collaborations and partnerships to leverage its influence. Reflecting Santa Clara University’s commitment to social justice, the Center is engaged with The Tech Museum of Innovation in Silicon Valley and theTechnology Benefiting Humanity Awards program, the World Bank Institute, the Glocal Forum in Rome, and the United Nations Development Programme.
