Purpose and Approach
The Global Social Benefit Incubator provides an intensive two-week residential program at Santa Clara University that enables successful innovators to develop know-how in the areas of marketing, finance, business planning, and organizational capacity building. It combines classroom instruction, case studies, and best practices with intensive mentor supported work on the specific sustainability and scaling challenges of invited member organization participants. Through this intensive residential experience at Santa Clara University, participants develop common conceptual skills and the sense of community that is essential for peer-to-peer collaboration and continuing mentor support following the residential program. This ongoing collaboration is supported by a distance learning platform that also enables the Center for Science, Technology, and Society to track the progress of participants once they return to their home locations. Distance learning in combination with shared residential learning is intended to empower social benefit entrepreneurs and to accelerate the replication of success across technological innovations around the world.
