Networked World: Information Technology and Globalization
On April 24, 2003, the Center for Science, Technology, and Society convened an international conference as part of Santa Clara University’s year-long Institute on Globalization. Sponsored by Applied Materials, the conference brought together experts from around the world to participate in keynote dialogues. The distinguished panelists discussed how information and communication technology has become a driving force of globalization, defined as the increasing interconnection of the world. Participants were concerned with both the promise and the perils of ICT.
