CPR & First Aid

undefined

The most important thing to remember in dealing with a medical emergency is that quick, proper action is extremely important.

FIRST AID IS FIRST AID ONLY!

Measures To Be Taken Until Help or Professional Assistance Arrives

First aid has three main objectives:

  • To save a life
  • To prevent an injury or condition from worsening
  • To relieve anxiety, pain, and discomfort

Contact the Fire Department or Paramedics at 911 or Campus Safety at x4444. Emergency Medical Technicians state that medical aid that is needed and be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Location of injured person
  • Type of injury or problem
  • The individual’s present condition
  • The sequence of events leading to the emergency
  • Medical history and name of the injured person’s doctor, if known
  • The phone number you are calling from

The individual making the call should continue to stay on the phone with the dispatcher and answer as many questions as possible regarding the condition of the injured person so that information can be transmitted to the responding authorities.
