What to Do
- Turn off all appliances that were running when the power went out
- Do not open the refrigerator more than necessary in order to keep the contents cold as long as possible
- Put any perishable items in the freezer
- Try not to use candles if necessary since they present a fire risk
- Avoid live wires that may be hanging or laying on the ground
