Financial Aid helps narrow the gap between your financial resources and your costs. Financial Aid is available from the federal government, state government, private sources as well as Santa Clara University.

  • Grants are money you do not have to repay and are usually based on financial need.
  • Scholarships are also free money and are usually based on merit or talent.
  • Work Study or Student Employment is earned money by employment through the university on-campus and off-campus programs.
  • Loans are borrowed money that you must pay back, usually with interest.

Your first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Santa Clara University also recommends that incoming first-year freshman and first-year transfer student complete the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE.   Be sure to apply early and meet the deadlines due to limitation and availability of funds.

All Graduate Financial Aid Student including Law Students, the Santa Clara University Financial Aid Office does not administer departmental aid. Please contact your appropriate Graduate School for information about these types of awards.
