vsies@scu.edu Victoria "Tori" Sies '07Peer AdvisorReflections on my Study Abroad Experience Studying abroad was a self-defining experience. My time in Rome gave me so much more than a chance to see the world. It gave me a stronger sense of self-confidence, independence, motivation to achieve my dreams, and inspiration for the future. I would not say that I had any unfulfilled expectations of my study abroad experience, but rather that it exceeded my expectations because I did not expect to change so much while abroad. In that short amount of time in Rome I learned so much more about myself than I had during the rest of my college experience. In the end I found myself sad to leave such a great city and the meaningful friendships I gained there. It is my hope to prepare other students for what they might experience abroad and to encourage them to make the most of their experiences. After looking back on my experience abroad I strongly encourage my peers to study abroad. For me, study abroad has been, by far, the most rewarding experience at Santa Clara. |
