Ever since I went to college I knew I wanted to study abroad in Europe. After researching the programs available I narrowed to two cities that I would enjoy studying in, and offered classes for my major. I eventually decided to go to Rome because I did not know the language and I enjoy history. So, I thought it would be the best choice for me.

Over the course of my study abroad experience I have learned a lot, but most importantly I have learned that I can be independent. This has had a significant impact in the person I am currently and will be in the future. Also, being abroad has contributed to my ability to problem solve, accept new cultures and people, and work with others. Overall, I believe that my experience abroad has allowed me to grow as a person and that will influence my academic growth and in turn my future career goals.

First and foremost, the most important recommendation I would give to a prospective study abroad student would be to do it and have fun! Studying abroad is a once in a lifetime opportunity that allows students to experience different cultures, and it facilitates their growth not only as a student, but as a person. Another important piece of advice I would give is to keep an open mind. Studying abroad allows you to interact with people from all over the world, and at times the differences can become frustrating, but it is important to be open to different customs and personalities.
