John Farnsworth, MFA, MLA
Professor Farnsworth, better
known as “Juanito” down in Baja, has been exploring the Baja peninsula for two decades, and has led the SCU expeditions every year since 2008. A member of the Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences, he specializes in Baja literary natural histories, and is currently working on a PhD dissertation about Baja writing.
Expedition Naturalist
David M. McMillan, PhD
Although Professor McMillan is new to the SCU faculty, he is one of the rare faculty members who is also an SCU alumnus. He recently completed his graduate studies at the University of Massachusetts, were he specialized in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology. Although the 2013 expedition will be the first time he's joined the Baja program as its official naturalist, he has been an avid outdoorsman for many years. He is a member of the Biology Department.

Erin Chadwell, '13
Erin is a senior double-majoring in Environmental
Studies and Communications. Last year Erin had the opportunity to explore the Baja peninsula during the 2012 expedition. She loved the program so much that she is going back again as one of Juanito's teaching assistants! Erin will basically run camp once we get to Mexico, handling everything from kayak assignments to the dishwasher rotation.

Aven Satre-Meloy, '13
Aven is a senior studying Environmental Studies
and Political Science
with a minor in International Studies. He took part in the 2012 Baja expedition and developed a deep appreciation for natural history writing. This year he will conduct further research on the natural history of Baja to complete his senior thesis, a natural history piece on his experiences in Baja.
