Alumni Update: Jelena Radovic
Update (October 2005): I returned home to Chile after living and working for a year at the Casa as one of the CFs. An amazing and simply beautiful experience which I thoroughly enjoyed. The three months of summer (winter for me) were spent at home, acompanando my family and friends, and enjoying my country before heading off to grad school in California. On September 05 I began a MA/PhD program in socio-cultural anthropology at UC Riverside (for those of you wondering - east of LA). What do I do? Read, read, and READ all the time. I am loving what I learn, though I definitely miss my friends and la realidad in El Salvador... Previous Update: After spending a month and a half at home, I came at the beginning of August back to El Salvador to work for the Casa program. I had left behind a piece of my heart in this country, and came back to continue loving, living and learning in "este bello pais." I am working as a Community Facilitator in one of three houses, Casa Romero. I am here to accompany, offer support, and walk with the students throughout their four-month journey in El Salvador. I thoroughly enjoy being once again in 'la realidad' and being surrounded by incredible human beings who are dedicating their lives to social justice in a variety of ways. I am thrilled to be eating pupusas once again, riding buses, being with old friends, going to the campo, and never ceasing to learn from this wonderful classroom of El Salvador.
